Al Gore blames Obama's Performance on Altitude

Started to use him vice Gore in my post but wasn't exactly sure who "he" was, so played it safe.
No worries.

Well, except that Gore's pathetic attempts to stay relevant can't be dismissed or excused with unfortunate bodily functions, and I really wish you wouldn't assume the worst of my more ambiguous statements. :p

It's a pity Gore wasn't president during 9/11. We would not have invaded Iraq, causing a quarter million civilian deaths, and almost five thousand deaths on our own side, and we probably would have caught Bin Laden before Gore's term was over. Any competent president -- by which I do not mean to include Bush and Cheney -- would not have invaded Iraq, nor lost sight of capturing or killing Bin Laden.

Believe it or not, my main argument against voting for Dubya first time around was "I don't want to invade Iraq. Do you?" People dismissed it as hysterical paranoia.

IIRC, which is far from certain, the late great Molly Ivins was right there with me. I am fairly confident that it was in the wake of said invasion that she released the statement: "Seriously, people. The next time Texans beg you not to elect the Texan, listen!" (paraphrased)

I really wish history had proven the derision justified but what can I say?

Perhaps he might even have listened to the alarm bells warning of an imminent attack, coming from several different agencies, and captured many of the terrorists while they were training at a US airfield, under observation by US spooks. Not trying to be inflammatory, but I think it's reasonable to suspect that if the entire US security apparatus had not been reassigned to looking for reasons to invade Iraq, some of them might have succeeded at doing their job, and keeping America secure.

Not to mention, our debt wouldn't have skyrocketed. And the other nations wouldn't be laughing at us so much.
