Like Caderro said, everything in moderation. However alcohol is definitely mentioned and there (unlike say some other substances used for similar effect). In fact alcohol consumption is mandated during certain holidays like Passover when everyone is supposed to drink about ten glasses of wine (you're going to have fun Jew Scout!).

Like anything, it is to be handled responsibly and as is appropriate. For some people, that means it would be best if they stayed away from alcohol altogether. Or most, it means something different.
