Ali's (a) name in the Quran. Implicit but one explicit place.

Ali (a) name is very sacred in that, if we fall short of it, we neglect the status of a chosen one, and if we go beyond it, we fallen out of Islam, by worshiping a chosen servant of God and equating them with God. So must not fall short nor go ahead of it. But be right in it. This is hinted in Surah Tawba/Baraat.

"Allah" is related to "Ali" in that Allah (swt) is exalted, but far above all exalted ones, and contains all exaltedness, but Ali is not at the level of godship because he is no where near the level of the Creator, and "Ali" is related to "atheem" which mean "great", as exalted ones are great but in fact too great for believers who are not chosen to reach their status.

In Ayat Kursi, the mirror way of the verse, has this implicitly implied as well.

There is also a hint to Surah Taha with Musa (a) being told he is the highest and Haroun (a) preceding the Musa (a) name in "Lord of Haroun and Musa" (the only place this occurs).

However, recently, I've come across hadiths that show an explicit mention of Ali (a) name in the Quran.

وَإِنَّهُ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ | And indeed it is in the mother of the book with us that Ali is wise | Az-Zukhruf : 4

There is a ziyarat of Imam Ali (a) that says "peace be upon you o who God says regarding him "And indeed it is in the mother of the book with us that Ali is wise" (the aya)"

Imam Jaffar (a) also says in a hadith that it is about Imam Ali (a) in Tafsir Qummi and Al-Maina Al-Akbar.

So what can this Ali do? Can he raise the dead?

Looking at the Arabic, a better translation would be:

"Peace be upon you who God revealed regarding him "And indeed it is in the mother of the book with us that Ali is wise" (43:4)""
