Amazing flea-market find!

... well, for me, anyways. :D

I was at the flea market yesterday and found, to my great surprise, two strips of fox pelt. They were cut so that they were about a foot and a half long and 5 inches tall. I called the stall owner over and asked how much they were...

... and he told me a DOLLAR for each of them!:woohoo:

I yanked them up as soon as he told me. Yesterday was my first really good flea-market find. :)

Do any of you have flea-market stories? Anything you've found that turned out to be disappointing?

I would never purchase real fur. The killing of animals for their fur is totally disgusting to me.

After the wall fell, there were plenty of flea markets around Berlin where where you could buy East German uniforms, helmets, medals, hats, boots, flags and just about anything and everything related to East German Military and police dirt cheap. As a result, I have a nice little collection:)

I presume flea-markets are the equivalent to 'car boot sales' as we have in England. I have had to stop going,(And my wife) because of our inability to see 'good buys' going to waste. Any one got a large lorry to loan (I need to clear out the house); what really emphasizes the need is the modern trend towards 'minimilism' in houses. I think I could adequately furnish three houses from mine.
Have any of you noticed though, that when you are having a clear - out, and you come across that piece of pipe you got from somewhere and have stored for 5 years 'because it looks like the kind of thing that would come in handy sometime', the second you ditch it, you find the need for it!:woohoo:

About the only thing I ever look for at flea markets, yard sales and antique stores is McCoy, Hull or USA brown drip pottery and dishes. I'm not much of a collecter, but I like this stuff and it's very useable. I'm not very good at finding it, but my mom has picked me up some bowls and mugs recently.

I'd really rather the fox not have been killed to begin with, too. But I'd rather it go to people that would respect the fox than someone that looks at it and just gets it because it's fur.

Good point, Jensa. I respect you motives in buying those particular furs. Apparently, you love and respect animals, as do I. Frubals to you. :)
