I heard from "reliable sources" that America is one of the most Fascist countries on earth. That's funny.

The media and the people mock our leader more than any other leader I know of. Do you know what they would do to you for that if this was a fascist country? Put all opponents in camps or before a firing squad.

That said,
I have a theory that Fascism may have been a response to the spread of Communism. People needed a far-right "spiritual" government to take the necessary measures to stop the spread of far-left secular government. (If you read the Doctrine of Fascism, and studied Fascist Italy, it was claiming to be a very "spiritual" form of Government designed to crush communism).

Fascist Dictator Francisco Franco used some very severe methods during the civil war with the communists, but for the communists to win the war, required equally terrible and arguably worse methods.

Franco didn't want his people to be in agony. He turned down Hitler during world war II and Hitler said, "I would rather have a tooth pulled than deal with Franco again".

After Franco stopped Spain from becoming a communist puppet of the Soviet Union, he put a sword on the altar of a Church and said "I vow never to take up the sword and shed blood again unless Spain is invaded". (Paraphrased but identical message).

I don't think the guy wanted to do the atrocities that his government sometimes were guilty of. People were desperate and fighting for the survival of their nation; and so, being human beings, they committed some war crimes. I already shared the atrocities of communists in Spain, and in my opinion, it was worse than Franco's "White terror".

I would hate to be in Franco's position trying to determine how best to stop a communist takeover of Spain.

Fascism is terrible, but Franco really lightened up after the communists were no longer a threat. Communists certainly had a higher kill count than Fascists by far, conquered more countries than Fascists, robbed far FAR more people of basic rights, and were much more hostile toward people with religious beliefs.

Trump says stupid things like "America is a third world country". Pretty stupid I know! But I want a politician who vomits forth such things without thinking about what he's saying, over the typical deceiver who tickles peoples ears with their tongue and blows rainbows up everyone's butt!

Malcolm X preferred such people over liberals. I don't think Trump is pretending to be anything but himself. I don't think he has the ability to do so even if he wanted to. The guy has attention deficit disorder when it comes to preparing for a speech. Congress, the media, and Supreme court won't let him ruin America. What would they really let him get away with.? Think about it. He is under investigation and threatened constantly with impeachment.

If America becomes Fascist, it will be to protect itself from a greater threat. Not that the ends justify the means, but Fascist Spain wasn't that bad after communism ceased being a threat to that nation. If you think things are Fascist now, just wait till the united states interests are threatened with some Dictatorship like communism. That will certainly bring a fascist Dictator to power that makes Trump look like a Saint in comparison. It's a survival instinct kicking in.

Please correct me if I'm wrong so that I may learn. Thanks!

I don't see fascism or communism as any great evil. It's the way they get enacted. Often by force, often by trampling on freedoms I would otherwise enjoy.

I think that's where these ideas get popular among the populace is because it's not their freedoms being taken away, at least initially.

If you are going to regulate freedoms, be aware that it may end up being freedoms you enjoy being regulated.

I think it mainly depends upon what direction America wants to go at this point. If America ever turns fascist, it would also have a lot to do with where we came from and how we got to the point we're at now.

Technically speaking, considering the number of nations/tribes which existed on this continent when we first arrived, America has probably conquered more countries than both the fascists and communists combined.

Spain, France, and England also conquered quite a few nations in the building of their empires.

However, by the time of Franco's rise to power, the Spanish Empire was already a distant memory. The US was exerting its own hegemony in the areas formerly ruled by Spain.

Fascism is really just ultra-nationalism - patriotism on steroids. In the case of Germany, Italy, and Japan, fascism came about mainly due to fears that they could become second-rate powers if they didn't act aggressively in their own interests.

Similarly, there are those in America who believe that our nation is in decline - and they think we need to toughen up - straighten up and fly right. Win one for the Gipper. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I don't think anyone really wants true fascism in America, but they want America to be back like it was when America was a John Wayne movie. (Well, America was never a John Wayne movie, but we like to imagine it was like that.)
