An ambassador for Christianity

Hi all,

If you could pick one person who has truly been a great example for Christianity. Who would it be and why?

My pick is maybe a little obvious.
Mother Teresa

For her selfless acts of love and devotion to the less fortunate. For giving her life to make others' easier to live. For taking what Jesus' said literally and doing to least of these what she would if Jesus was in front of her.

Wow!!! great answer. I never thought of that!!! Jesus as a christian ambassador. Wow.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. Anyone other than Jesus himself.

No one could do as good of Job as Jesus. I agree with BB!

Hebrews 1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. NIV

angellous_evangellous - why Ghandi. I also think he is a good example.

Because he is a man who lived the ultimate Christian ideal and we cannot claim him as a Christian. Like Socrates for the Cynics and Stoics, and Jesus for Christianity. In the end, even Hinduism could not claim Ghandi.

Opening the gates for Hindu yogis, then?:D I'd vote Ghandi, too, because of his non-violent protests against the Brits and his ability to lead and inspire millions of followers.

My other Hindu yogi would be Paramahansa Yogananda as a wonderful ambassador of Christianity. He wrote "Autobiography of a Yogi" and "The Second Coming of Christ" (a lovely discourse on the Canonical Gospels).

My other votes would be a couple of people I've met in my life that identify themselves as Christian and I see walking the walk of a Christian.............they are truly selfless, compassionate, and aspire to serve others - especially the needy - and they are people who, if they chose to be my guru, I'd jump at the opportunity to be their student. They have asked in the past that I do not "advertise" all their charity work and their beliefs, and therefore have asked to remain anonymous. I find them to be living examples in my life of ambassadors of Christianity.

Peace,
Mystic

It doesn't have to be a christian. It could be anyone. Like Nelson Mandela, the Pope, Madona.... anyone. The key is why.
