An Open Letter to Penumbra

@Penumbra,

This is the first time I have written an open letter for a specific person. I also realize that it may be seen as corny by some people, but quite frankly, I don't care. I mean every word I'm going to write here, and I suspect that a lot of the people who might read this letter might not know just how much you have helped me and how much you mean to me.

I chose today because over 24 months has passed since I first messaged you in 2013. Since then, one of us has PMed the other at least once every two weeks. There are a total of over 700 messages between us at the moment. You were there for me when I was at my lowest points, and you were also there to share my happy moments with me in those 24 months. I have been through ups and downs, but the one thing that has remained constant is your support, which you have provided as much as your busy schedule has allowed you to.

I have been on this forum for four and a half years. I consider the biggest reward for my participation here and my work on the staff to be the people I have become close to over those years. You are one of those people. Just your friendship would have been enough of a reward for me; I'm blessed to have you and others as well.

I love you, dear friend. Thank you for everything. This is what I call intercontinental love, from a continent and an ocean away. :glomp:

Sincerely,

My favorite thing about the forum has been the benefit of meeting people from so far away.

This includes people in other parts of the U.S., but also internationally throughout the world, especially in the Middle East. Only in college did I have so much exposure to people from other countries, and ironically, people often tend to open up more online, so in most ways, I know as much or more about some people here than many people I knew in college.

It's been a pleasure to know you too, especially for so long and so closely.

^-^
