The trees in Oregon and Washington were so large and ancient, that people back east thought that the loggers were lying when describing them.

How much healthier could our forests be, how much more in tune with Earth's slower pace of time would we be; had we left these Ancient Ones alone?

I have 2 redwoods in me yard.
(Dawn redwoods are from China.
They survive in northerly climes.)

That is like saying it is ok to kill people because other people will be born to replace them.

These trees will never grow back. Other trees might grow, but these ones are dead.

Sadly we had two of them as well. We didn't know they were redwoods (nor did the folks at the store), and we planted them on either side of the front door.

When we found out last year what they were, we moved them to the side yard.....but they haven't been well at all this summer. If they don't show signs of health next spring, we'll have to replace them.

I originally planted 3, but one didn't make it.
I also have 2 bald cypress trees, which are quite similar to the redwoods.
