Done here.
My better half and I have been watching a show about people being abducted by aliens, and we got to talking about what we think about that.

Our take on it is, first, most of these people are nuts. But we think some of them are experiencing some kind of phenomenon, and that it's the same kind of thing that other people have experienced as angels or demons.

We're not entirely in agreement about whether these phenomena have any objective reality, or are entirely subjective.

What do you think?

Are angels, demons, and aliens the same kind of phenomena (or beings)?

Do they have any objective existence, or are they psychological phenomena?

I thinks all is psychological. It's interesting how every supra-natural vision has the same factors: a glowing circle, a pyramid of light, someone coming from the sky (or beyond). More than aliens, gods or any other supra-natural being I think we really are watching our own mind projected in the sky.

Now days one is going to be seen as a fool for watching angels, so the consciouses decides to interpret the subconscious manifestation as aliens from outer space, something more factible now days.

I am a non believer however I am seriously thinking about taking up Ghost Hunting . I think I will be able to remain objective because of my belief system.

I am sure that there are aliens on other worlds.
I doubt that they have ever been to Earth but it could be possible.

As to demons and Angels,I some how doubt they have ever been physical beings.
If they exist they are manifestations of the spirit word or in the case of Angles messengers from God.

I am sure they are more often figments of a troubled mind, rather than of reality.

I couldn't really vote because I believe that angels and demons are VERY real.

I believe that things can be "alien" but I don't believe in aliens in a "Gross...this green man with almond shaped eyes abducted me and impregnanted me" sense.

I do think that angels and demons exist and I feel that they are totally SUBJECTIVE.

Demons feed off of the emotions and thoughts of people. That's how they attack...that's how they work. They learn how to manipulate by the feelings and actions of others.

I believe angels work in a similar sense. I believe they perceive pain and need and are able to react to those emotions if willed to do so.

It happens to all of us, Dawny!

I'm not sure what I believe. I've met those that I think have the souls of angels, and that includes beings that aren't human. (The goose in my backyard is a prime example!) I can't say that I've ever encountered a demon, or am even sure if such a thing exists. The closest my own belief system has to it is a hole where a soul should be.

Aliens, I really don't know about. They don't factor into my beliefs, except where I sense souls that aren't, in the most technical sense, from earth.

I definitely believe in Angels and Demons and I WANT there to be aliens! :) You didn't have a button for that one!

Has anyone seen Mothman Prophecies about an true life event in West Virgina concerning an evil apparition that quite a few people saw? This area had an extra ordinary amount of paranormal sightings through the years and some paranormal experts theorized that there is some sort of 'gateway' hole in that area.....I don't know if all this is real or not but it is very fascinating.

I still think one of you that has seen a ghost ought to start a thread about them.

Dont believe in angels or demons. But I think its very possible for there to be other inhabited planets out there. But I imagine the species to so unimaginable to us, now theres a contradiction :s I was convinced I saw a ghost when I was fishing at night with my dad once, but I was only young, probably a squirrel or something .....

I believe that there are life out there in this vast universe. There are too many galaxies out there that could possibly support life; it just impossible for us to reach those distant planet.

I just don't believe in aliens coming to earth, abducting or testing people; that I believe is just plain delusional.

Angels and demons. I think it is mostly psychological, but I'm not too sure about that.

Angels and demons with wings? I think not.

Angels and demons as agents of good and evil? I think that's just metaphors, not a realities.

As a Christian, I firmly believe in angels. I believe demons are fallen angels (a la the book of Enoch). I do not believe in aliens, and I feel that the phenomena attributed to them is a combination of hoaxes, mistaken phenomena, experimental craft, and the demonic.

One fun question is why do we accept/reject belief in these things?

For my part, I saw some pretty whacked out things, much of it with other people seeing the exact same thing, before my Christianity. I could very easily see much of it as "angelic" phenomena, and Christianity gave me an increasingly clear means to judge it by.

Conversely, the "UFO" phenomena strikes me as something different. When it seems too far out, it almost always seems deceptive to me, despite the fact that I've seen those as well. Something in my gut rebels against it.

What about the rest of yall?

The universe is too vast to be absolute about the inexistence of aliens. It is arrogant to believe we are the only beings in the vastness of creation. I certainly believe we're not the only inhabitants. I also believe it's arrogant that they're here observing us. We are a backward species, on a remote planet lost in a sea of stars, why would some naked, gray creatures want to come spy on us?

Whether it's microbes buried in some distant volcano, or two galaxies warring over a difference of philosophies, we certainly are not alone.

The way I figure is that time has always been. Therefore there must be some life forms that have been around... Since the beginning of time? Since there is no beginning, there must be some highly advanced forms of life. Some good, some bad. Could this account for aliens, Gods, angels and demons? Might very well be.
