Can anyone solve this math problem??

What is amazing is that if one assumes that one of the answers is correct the problem is trivial. Though since most math teachers require a student to show his work the trivial answer probably will not do.

Okay. I'll take your word for it. I'll also rewrite the problem here to make it easier to illustrate the solution:

(24x² + 25x - 47)/(ax - 2) = -8x - 3 - 53/(ax - 2).

The first thing to look at here is how you can clear the denominators so that you can get the value of the unknown more easily. Multiply both sides by (ax - 2). We get this:

24x² + 25x - 47 = -8x(ax - 2) - 3(ax - 2) - 53

Now clear the brackets as well:

24x² + 25x - 47 = -8ax² + 16x - 3ax + 6 - 53

Now see if you have any more ways to simplify the expression as much as possible. We can add the constants on the right-hand side:

24x² + 25x - 47 = -8ax² + 16x - 3ax - 47

The -47 is on both sides, so just add 47 on both sides. You end up with this:

24x² + 25x = -8ax² + 16x - 3ax

At this point you can directly get the value of a by equating the coefficients of x² and the coefficients of x on both sides. By equating the coefficients of x² on both sides:

24 = -8a --> a = 24/-8 = -3

Do that with the coefficients of x as well:

25 = 16 - 3a

Therefore, -3a = 9 --> a = -3

Now you know that a = -3 from both the coefficients of x² and the coefficients of x.
