Once upon a time....
I can't say that I've heard their music, but Greg Graffin co-authored a book with Preston Jones titled "Is Belief in God Good, Bad or Irrelevant". I read it for a philosophy of religion class that I took and I really enjoyed it.

I've read some of that. My impression was that it would be worth a complete reading.
