I'm not Catholic, but isn't Good Friday the day that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of mankind? And isn't Easter the day he was resurrected?

The name "Good Friday" can be decieving. On this day Jesus suffered a horrendous crusifixion, and died not by his wounds, but by suffication. It is called "Good" because by this sacrafice of the unblemshed lamb, our sins were forgiven. Dying he destroyed our death that was due us becasue of sin, and by rising he restored our life.

rex: u mite b interested in watching the movie called passion. it portrays what happened to Jesus on what the catholics call Good Friday.

Good Friday is when Christ suffered for our sins through volunteering his life for ours (cruxified) by the Roman Empire.

It is the new passover. Christ, the lamb, was slaughter to free us from our sins through his blood.

It is terrible that it happened, but G*d came to us so man/woman/child can become close to him through the bridge Jesus created for all of us.

Yes, but It wasn't done by the Roman Empire as a nation. It was ordered by the weak-willed Roman Governor of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, at the insistence of the Pharisees who rejected Jesus as the Messiah. Good Friday is good in the sense that it is holy, and is also known as Holy Friday. The day Christ atoned for our sins through his suffering and death on the cross. He restored the union between God and man that was broken by the disobedience of Adam and Eve.

give us the scoop.

What is "Good Friday" all about?
It's all about Jesus conquering death by His death, about Jesus reconciling God and man, about Jesus' loving us so much as to die for us, staying true to His words: "There is no greater love than this: To lay down one's life for one's friends." By His death, He put away our sin and the alienation between us and God that our sin caused. And by sharing in our death, Jesus redeemed all parts of our humanity and our human experience, having overcome all temptation and sin.
