Any Matisyahu Fans Around?

I was surprised there wasn't a Matisyahu thread. Anyone dig it? I found out about him when LKive at Stubbs came out and I have just about worn out my CDs. I got a chance to see him live and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I was surprised at how good it was.

You're fine. I'm sure I've started about a bunch of threads that have already been covered.

I like Matisyahu. It's a really refreshing change from the normal stuff on the radio.

I picked up a CD by a Jewish rapper named Socalled. Very different. The CD is called The Socalled Seder. It's all about the Pesach seder. He calls it a Hipphopp Hagadah. Matis does a guess song for the 3rd cup: Yahu. Really gets your head bobbing. His music is more west coast style.

I love Matisyahu's "King Without A Crown", and I'm not even Jewish (or Christian, Muslim, etc). However, I'm not really that into the rest of his music; it doesn't seem to have the same sort of speed and rhythm that made me fall in love with "King Without A Crown".

Anyone else get the new CD/DVD? The CD has some great remixes and Message in a Bottle is awesome. The DVD is high quality and the songs are great. A seven song CD and a full length concert DVD with extras for $17. Shweeeet!

I like him. I get really tired of people crapping all over him because he doesn't shake hands with women. Really, what do people expect, considering what kind of Judaism he adheres to?

Yeah I think the hand shaking thing (actually it's touching) is just an easy target. It is done out of respect, not superiority.
