I am not diabetic but I do have a very high risk of diabetes. There is a strong family history of diabetes in my family, I am very obese, I have a fatty liver (non-alcoholic), and I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). From what I understand, all of these things combined dramatically increase my risk of diabetes. I was tested back in February though and everything was fine.
Negatory, chief, but my brother-in-law is insulin dependant and had been for over 20 years. Ive know him for most of that time.
And for much of the earlier years he was a big drinker and casual heavy drug user. Nice combo.
My husband has type 2 non insulin dependent.Diagnosed early 40's. (((HUGS))))
Hes on metformin .But that won't work forever.
When he first got diagnosed I was active here and I was panicked..What he shouldn't eat what he can eat..I started a thread somewhere ! LOL>>.Probably the reason I was drawn to yours but you are already an "expert"..Before a week was out I was laughing and crying..
He called me one day and said "can I eat parsley I cant remember"..
We were stricken with fear over every morsel of food.
He had ALL the classic symptoms but we didn't "connect " them.He had to pee ALL the time..(including at night) we thought maybe enlarged prostate thats "normal " right?..his legs hurt so he kind of walked like a creeky old man(another sign of "age). He could NOT quench his thirst..(its HOT here we live in Texas) ..his vision going..??must be his lasik surgery from years ago failed somehow..
That's finally where he went ..the eye doctor..they gave him a routine prick for blood sugar and I cant remember the exact # but it was 400, 500..They told him its not your eyes. You need to go to a non eye doctor IMMEDIATELY>
As the story goes he was quickly diagnosed...Then the
search for food" LOL!! started..The Glycemic and the GI LOAD! YEE HAW!!!! LOL!!
O.k I KNOW you can eat CELERY for sure!
Sorry ..that was SCARY confusing time..
[QUOTE The truth is though if I do not inject the insulin I die.]
I hope for your sake it stays fine. Diabetes is a very serious thing. Hell I had to wake up and use insulin again. Best of luck to you and your life.
I would hope he has turned it around then. I did. Having to inject insulin is no fun. Drinking and using drugs just makes you feel worse.
He still drinks, but far less. And no drugs at all these days.
I've had type 2 diabetes since I was 39. I haven't had to take any insulin- I take Metformin and Jenuvia.
