I discovered about Silent hill in 2012. I remember seeing Silent Hill Revelation a days before Halloween and I thought it was pretty good. My favorite character is Pyramid Head :D Yes, I do find him attractive o///o.
I love both movies. SH. Revelation is my favorite.

Games I have played.
I have played Down Pour, SH. 2 and part of SH. 3. I played them on the Xbox 360.
I am not sure if they have all the SH games for the Xbox 360.
I personally love SH. 2 the most.

I played the original game when it came out way back when, but none of the sequels. The movie was disappointing.

I hated the original movie, not because it "wasn't exactly like the games", but for two reasons: 1. it wasn't even remotely scary, and 2. it gave an actual source for the sirens, which made me so furious that I just ragequit right there.

I certainly don't want a video game adaptation of a movie to be exactly like the game. Especially these days: I can just watch commentary-less gameplay on Youtube if I wanted a movie to be exactly like the game. What I care about is whether or not they can adapt the core of a game. I'd actually expect a good Silent Hill movie to be pretty quiet and atmospheric. Think The Mist, with the lonely atmosphere of Alien, and the guilt-ridden lead from The Haunting (1963).

I enjoyed the first movie. Not much the second. Not a gamer so nothing to cross reference. Interesting concept that dim hell those people created for themselves by their actions in life. Tormented by the very one they had wronged. Very creepy and fun movie.

I thought the first movie was great. The second was awful. The games are good, too, but I haven't played them much.

Sometimes I do watch commentaries on youtube if I am bored lol.
What I like about the second movie is that it had more action and also more things going on. I am not sure if I have seen The Haunting.

I enjoyed the second one more. I do want to watch both movies again.

Interesting. I don't own an xbox one, I heard stuff about it. I do want to play all the SH games. It would be something for me to do.

Btw guys I am been writing a Silent Hill fanfiction. I am not sure if you guys would like it since it has a lot of sexual content. Sex, rape, bondage, violence, romance, and other stuff.

See, that's the thing. Silent Hill shouldn't have action IMO. ...no horror movie should, in fact. Horror inherently involves disempowerment, not empowerment. Silent Hill as a city forces the people that go into it to face physical manifestations of their psychological Shadows. That's why Silent Hill 2 is such a masterpiece. The eponymous town isn't so much a "city" so much as it's a physical manifestation of Shadow. Pyramid Head as just a monster from Silent Hill is ... just a monster (albeit a very effective one for those of us whose fear response reacts really well to sound and sharp corners). There's nothing of substance there. But in Silent Hill 2 where he belongs, there's actual meaning there. Same with the nurses.

BTW, just to be clear, I'm not calling you "wrong" for liking the movies. There's no such thing as being "wrong" for liking something for any reason. I fully admit that I hate the first movie (never saw the second and don't really care to) because of my own preconceptions of what I think Silent Hill, and horror in general, should be, which I got from playing the first two games. I can't say if I'd have liked the movie had I not played the games.

I'm no expert, either, I'm just speaking about what "horror" movies have actually managed to even somewhat scare me, or at least make me feel uneasy, and most "horror" movies haven't even really tried.
