Where's Global Warming when you really need it...just sayin'.
I could use me some tomorrow....it's not supposed to be 3F in November.

The news....
When it's warmer than usual, it's proof of GW.
When it's cold, it's anomalous weather.

We're expecting an ice storm, with an overnight low of 11F.
That's a freakish anomaly.

And no, weather events don't demonstrate climate change. It's the increasing frequency of extreme anomalies that demonstrate it.

It is the pattern of records that tell us of global warming. There should be roughly the same number of record lows as record highs if the Earth is not warming. We do not see that. There about twice as.many new highs as new lows. We will still see some new lows, only fewer of them. And the rarity of new lows is what makes the OP's story news.

Yer preach'n to the choir.
I'm just criticizing coverage I've heard in the news.

This is the result of a monster low that is over the high Arctic but so huge that it can bring the cold all the way down not too far from the Caribbean. As counter-intuitive as it may seem, this is a probably effect from global warming since larger fronts is a byproduct of the extra energy that's being brought to bear.

The rise in global temperature really means an overall increase in the energy in our atmosphere. So it doesn't just mean that our temperatures get warmer (although, on average, they do). It also means that our weather events become more prolific and more extreme, including deep cold snaps.

Again, I'm just criticizing news mongers leaping to
singular inclement weather as evidence of GW.
