Are Baha'is a majority?

Is there any country in which Baha'is are a majority of the population? In which country or countries are Baha'is most numerous?

We're not a majority anywhere yet, but we're definitely working on it! :)

India has the most Baha'is at present--at least three million, I believe.

We're one percent of the population in Iran, the country where the Baha'i Faith began, which makes us the largest religious minority (greater than Christians, Jews, or Zoroastrians).

Last I heard, we'd reached seven or eight percent of the population in Guyana, South America!

And I've heard (but have not yet been able to confirm) that we may be as high as twenty percent of the population in Papua New Guinea!

So wherever you are, "Watch this spot!" :)

What's the percentage in Samoa?

re: Iran
It's hard to say how many Baha'is there are in Iran, considering the current political climate there.

For all we know, the current gov't will collapse of its own weight, and we will wake up on day and discover 10-20% of the population is actually Baha'i.

that's interesting. I never knew there were large amounts of Baha'i's in those countries listed. but as BruceDLimber and Booko stated, this particular religion isn't a majority in any country yet.

The weirdest stat I know of is that the Baha'i Faith is the 2nd most widespread religion...just after Christianity, and that Islam runs a distant 2nd. I think that was Britannica, but don't quote me on that. Bruce would know off the top of his head.

Then again, we are encouraged to go live in other parts of the world, so we are spread thinly, but we're around nearly everywhere.

It was indeed the Encyclopedia Britannica that provided that initially.

Though I'm afraid you mean Islam is in third place, dearie, not second!

The numbers I've seen are these:

RELIGION NUMBER OF LOCALITIES

Christianity 140,000
Baha'i Faith 110,000
all other religions 90,000 or fewer.

And BTW, it's the World Christian Encyclopedia (clearly also NOT a Baha'i organization) that promulgated the fact that AMONG THOSE RELIGIONS ALREADY ESTABLISHED IN OVER 100 COUNTRIES, the Baha'i Faith is the single fastest-growing.

Best, :)
