Are people who wear knee high socks somehow closer to God than people who only wear ankle socks? Are you sure? Why are you sure?

Knee high socks are closer to the genetals. So no.

or yes, depending on how you look at it ;)

Wait, that answered the topit title question but not the OP question.

If you believe modesty is godly, than people who wear knee high socks are more modest, and thus closer to god(liness), since it covers more of their legs.

Well, women wear knee-high socks frequently, @ young tender ages most often, and women are closer to GOD than most men by their very nature. However, they also wear ankle socks more often than men, so now I'm confused by this new paradox...

The Bible clearly states in Exodus 3:5 that you are not to wear socks at all!
This is because you might unknowingly walk on Holy Ground.

actually its more like sandals.
The OP did not mention sandals and people back in those times did not wear socks.
But the Bible is clear that one is not to wear anything on their feet lest they unknowingly tread upon Holy Ground with their feet covered and cause offense.

Knee-high socks arequite attractive, I think. The girls at my school were required to wear them in most cases.

Procreation is very godly. "Be fruitful, and multiply" etc. That's my reasoning, anyway. :p

We know the Romans of the time wore socks as there are records of them writing home for more of them, from Hadrian's wall.

If you stand straight, the top of the sock at least is nearer God
The "Soul" of the sock is as far away as ever.
