I asked this on Yahoo Answers and got 119 answers! So I figured it must be a good enough question to ask here.

Truly think about this, are there things that don't exist?

Sure.
Darkness, cold, evil, vacuum, free will, randomness...
Really quite a few.

Depends on what is meant by "exist."

If it can be experienced, known, or discussed in any way, it exists and is reality, regardless of whether or not a given person or culture calls it that.

Those things do exist as a property though, don't they? Why wouldn't lack of property that can be described not be a property itself? There is no 'cold' energy, but coldness certainly does exist, because the lack of heat certainly does exist.

All those things exist (although free will is a trickier thing)....unless you're using some unexpected definition.
I've seen darkness, felt cold, abhorred a vacuum, & used randomness.

Well anything people can invent exist as concepts or properties. Fairies, white superiority, <insert religion here>, less than zero quantities of material objects, dreams, there is no end to what can be invented.
Having a word for something doesn't mean it exists concretely. But if you are including abstractions, then anything can exist. No, there is nothing imaginable that cannot exist.

If they lack existence, how can they be?

The question was not be but exist. They are different definitions, there is physical evidence to prove existence. There is written information and photo information as well as other types to prove previous existence. As to future existences the are written plans, mental projections, and logical progression.

Things exist.

Non-existence can be a thing, but things cannot be non-existent.

When people refer to non-existent things, they usually mean it in the context of an imagined thing or a possible but not actual thing. These things exist under the umbrellas of imagination and possibility. To hold an existent to actuality is to be a realist.

Being a realist doesn't make you right, it just makes you a realist.

In the very title of this thread, there is the word 'are'. To rephrase the title to a sentence: "There are things that don't exist", and that is a plural present word for 'be'.

And what do you mean "be" doesn't mean exist? That single word, Exist, is the first definition of Be.

be
bē/
verb
1.
exist.

2.
occur; take place.

A very enlightening way to put it.
