Are works necessary for salvation in Islam?

A simple question arising from another thread.

Are works necessary for salvation in Islam, or do works follow salvation as a willingness to do as Allah has commanded as a result of belief in Allah and the Qur'an?

Thank you advance for your answers.

Hello and welcome to Islam DIR

To answer your question, God tells us in the Qur'an that belief and good deeds must always go together. Belief alone is not enough.

If a person says he or she believes in God, then the next logical step is to follow God's Guidance, starting with praying to God.

We believe that on the Day of Judgement God will hold us accountable for what we did in this life.
Our deeds will be weighed, and if good deeds exceed bad deeds we will be admitted to Jannah (Paradise) by God's Mercy.

Deeds alone are not enough, as God holds us accountable for our intentions

If the intention in doing a good deed is only for the sake of God, it is accepted, and if not it is rejected...

So belief in God, doing good deeds for the sake of God and before everything else God's Mercy is the path to salvation in Islam ...

If you have other questions on this, please feel free to follow-up

Peace and best regards
