Are Yahweh(of the Jews & Christians) and Allah (Islam ) the same?...this may sound silly to many but some people think they are different. If feel they are the same please state why, if not why not?. Thanks

That depends who you ask.
Jews and Muslims will probably tell you that they are the same.
Christians will probably tell you they are not.

As a Jew, I think they are the same because they are both describing the One and only Creator of the world.

...unlike the Christian god.

The Arabic word for God is Allah, doesn't matter if you're a Jew, Christian or Muslim, they all use Allah for God if they speak Arabic.

Even though all three religions worship the same God, their beliefs about the attributes of said God may vary, both from religion to religion, and within the same religion.

I always thought Yahweh, Jesus, and Allah were all different people. They are all known as "God" But I didn't see God as a name, but rather a title. If you think about it, they all have very different rules and perspectives on life, which makes me think they were different. Notice all the times when God is vengeful and then benevolent the next. Some theorized that it was actually different people but under the same name as "God". I find that more believable than for all of them to be the same and God decides to do a complete 180 on his decisions.

Both "Allah" and "Eloheim" have as their root one of the Sumerian names for God, "El".

It heavily depends on whether you believe Jesus is the Creator. If Jesus is not the Creator, both Allah and God are the same. They are Both the Creator and their respective prophets, apostles, laymen, and chosen follow and worship Him just like anyone else.

If the Creator is Jesus, no, they are not the same. Jews and Muslims do not believe God is a "manifestation" of human being. Actually, that is an insult to the Creator (as many believe, as if I did believe in an external deity, I'd be offended myself).

They have the same role--they are the Creator. It just depends on which Christian you're asking. I don't believe Jesus is God; so, Allah and God are the same. They are both the God of Abraham no matter what the apostles and Muhammad may say or not say about the Creator Himself.

(aka the Creator is not defined by the people who worship Him. So they are the same)

Religious people worship words from their Holy Books.

To me it seems obvious that they are intended to be the same, in the sense that all three religions believe that a single (or at least triune) creator snapped the universe into existence (or at least ordered it into existence), and that god had a special relationship with some Semitic tribes way back in the day. They start to vary pretty quickly if you add any more depth.

Notably, Yahweh and Allah seem to have roughly the same personality type.
