Are you a leader in your faith? If so, describe your roles.

I hold the priesthood in the LDS faith as most men do (I work for a living too!).

I have also been "called" to teach the priesthood elders we refer to as elders. I teach a lesson on Sunday about once or twice a month and rotate with other teachers.

Is there anything specific you wish to know?

Though my "religion" is no more than reality, I am most definitely a teacher and have been for several incarnations now. The role of the Bodhisattva does not end at a single grave, but I am sure you understand.

Preacher/teacher...however, don't think I can match "Mighty Mouse" w/horns. I understand my Source as telling me that it is appointed once for me to die and I understand Jesus as commanding me to spread His Word (if you want to label that as a "salesman" so be it). I know what Scriptures tell me the Light is...never personally met someone "beyond it".

I have taught "Meditation 101" at our dharma center......not regularly, however. At the moment, I am the spiritual program director as well as the publicist for our sang'ha.

Once we expand our program a bit more, we will be able to begin more serious sutra study as well as having regular group discussions on the Lam Rim. So far, I have been slated to lead the Lam Rim discussions, but we'll see if that will work out.

I guess you could say that right now I am more of an assistant teacher who is still learning how to ensure that I don't share false dharma.

Peace,

Gosh Heather, my love, you are so modest it hurts. Let me allay your fears about sharing "wrong" dharma... as it is to an extent -- inevitable. Let me sum up my thinking by putting it in dance terms that you can totally appreciate.

It's astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely, not for very much longer
I've got to keep control

I remember doing the TIme Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling
Let's do the time warp again...
Let's do the time warp again!

(The important part, just for Heather!)

It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!

I do hope the clears things up, sweet thang.

True dat. But this reality shouldn't preclude my careful attention to exactly what I'm conveying. Being that you're familiar with our Five Precepts, you are already well aware that the ethical and moral code of refraining from lying is highly stressed. Hence, when I teach dharma - which is the very definition of ultimate reality, emptiness, and the nature of the phenomenal world - I need to make sure I understand these concepts correctly. Otherwise, I am lying to my students and leading them on to think that I truly understand what I'm teaching.

I'm sorry if my modesty hurts you, though. :)

YAY! Thank you!!

Now I will be blessed with visions of Tim Curry in fishnet stockings in my next several meditation sessions...........LOL

I have a "calling" in my LDS Ward as the Young Men's President, which means I work with the male youth, 12-18 years old. I teach them a class on Sundays and help them plan weekday youth activities.
