It seems this popup comes up every four months. Something about "Please donate, just $2, please!!" This time it seems to be saying that Wikipedia might be sold if it doesn't get enough donations.

What are your thoughts on this?

On one hand, it's only 2 dollars. On the other hand, I feel like even if I did donate they'll just ask again in the next few months.

I donate a few bucks every so often.

Wikipedia served a useful function for a time, but I don't stay awake at night worrying about it getting sold.
I wonder who would buy it, though, and what it would turn into afterwards.

I donate $5 to Wikipedia, once, at the end of every year. I use Wikipedia a lot and find it valuable enough to help it, even if they don't really need my money.
That's good to hear you support since you find it useful. Do you think they don't really need the money?

I don't donate to Wikipedia. From everything I read, they're doing just fine already.

I've sent them a few bucks now and again, as I do visit there on occasion. Just like I paid for a premium membership on RF.

The end of that article sums it up for me.

Clearly, Wikipedians are right to engage in vigorous discussion about how donations are solicited from visitors and to oversee how those funds are actually spent. For me, there’s also the small matter of the external environment. In recent years, Wikipedia has been attacked by authoritarian regimes and powerful billionaires—people who do not necessarily benefit from the free flow of neutral information. If $3 helps hold them off, then that’s coffee money well spent.

I use Wikipedia all the time, so I thought it worthy to give it a donation. They'll ask again, but so what? I don't have to give it to them again.
