Or to think of this way, McDonalds coffee on occassikn causes severe burns, especially when kept above tempuratures set by corporate policy, and its caused severe burns. But this Toe of Satan, the body will perceive it as far hotter than boiling coffee, but you get no burns from it. The irritation to various bodily parts may be real, but there is no flame.

But that's the absolutely amazing thing about capsaicin. The heat, the burn, the pain, none of it's real. The capsaicin just works in a funny way to trick our nerves into thinking they're on fire.

Doesn't change the tears flowing from my eye holes!!! :D

It also doesn't stop the squirts afterwards! :p

I haven't seen anyone struggle or be in danger from this Toe challenge.

But there is another challenge. "The Pacqui 1 chip challenge". Its only about 2 million scovilles but because it's a corn chip it has powdered Carolina reapers on it. Some people have almost died because the powder gets inhaled when the try eating the chip. So the danger is still real with these things.

Yeah. Inhaled powders arent really that good. Its what makes the " cinnamon challenge" such a severe potential threat.
But 2 million scovilles is a challenge? I chew carolina reaper gumballs that hot for fun.

This thread does remind me I need to get my free meals at buffalo wild wings (Blazin challenge, to me its just a meal and not worthy of any fanfare).

Oh your hardcore then! I doubt I could even do the 1 chip challenge. Jalapenos are about my limit! They are only like 2,000-5,000 scovillle!

Here is a channel I watch regularly. The Try Channel. Just a bunch of Irish folk trying food/beverages from around the world. They did a spicy peanut challenge.

What is it about food so hot you can't taste it that people find so entertaining?
@Shadow Wolf

I don't get it. It sounds incredibly stupid to me. Would somebody explain the point to this?

I don't consume anything more intense than a jalapeno, either. Not just for the reason of what it feels like going in, but coming out as well.

If you cant taste it, your not used to it. Many peppers, you gotta get used to the burn some before you can taste the flavor. Theres no really getting used to the toe of satan, but it really does have a good cinnamon flavor. I also suspect it may be partly an Aspie senastion-seeking thing, as I also like intensely sour foods.

That wouldn't be right. Wouldn't that mean if I touched myself while listening to Avril Lavigne music, I'd be touching two other people too?

If it's wrong would you want to be right?!?! :smilingimp:
