As a religious person, what religious songs inspire you?

Please state religion and the songs :p

As a Heathen, there are three songs that inspire me the most.

Ensiferum - Heathen Throne

YouTube - Ensiferum Heathen Throne

This hate inside me,
It is constantly growing.
Years of hollow lies,
Made pagan hatred rise.

They came with their troops,
Destroying land and roots.
Abominations under the sun,
They and their poisoned truth.

One by one my people fell,
Under their deceptive spell.
How many sons of the
Northe, had to fall?
before our eyes could see;
This isn't how it should be!

"Under the Northern star
We shed our blood.
With the call of a battle horn.
We raise our swords.

Behind the fields of blood,
There's a haven for us.
Deep in the woods of the North,
Rises the Heathen Throne" - Kalevala

Upholder of the skies,
For too long has your name been
despised,
Give us your strength and courage.
When we meet our nemesis.
On the shores that used to be,
The place we called home.

Our land and faith are raped,
Somehow they're going to pay.

Grant us your revenge,
We are not afraid of death.
Let none of them ever more, EVER MORE,
Lay a hopeful gaze upon the sky!

(Yeah, kinda violent haha :p)

Forefather - Ours is the Kingdom

YouTube - Forefather - Ours Is The Kingdom

Our hearts lie not in heaven
Nor Eastern desert sands
With eyes closed to your saviour
Our fate is in our hands
Great glass eyes look down on me
So lofty and so great
In your world we are filth
Toys of your lord to dominate

High spires reach for Dunors sky
A Misfit court of stone
Like flame upon the water
It stands there all alone
You say our ways are evil
That devils seed we sow
Yet we have greater wisdom
Than you will ever know

Your lodging here is ended
Your welcome here is ceased
No honour left bestowed
Our open hand now Iron fist
Ours is the kingdom
On up high, on sea
In Jest we let you play
But now is our time for victory

The storm is ever brewing
A power rising fast
Lightning strikes our veins
As we see the bridge at last

As we ride the endless
The truths seem only lies
The few that faced the fire
Honoured as the kings
Now we ride the deathless
Our kingdom has returned
Of fallen Kings and heroes
Our Children now have learned

Your lodging here is ended
Your welcome here is ceased
No honour left bestowed
Our open hand now Iron fist
Ours is the kingdom
On up high, on sea
In Jest we let you play
But now is our time for victory

And the final,

Forefather - Theodish Belief
(They didn't have the video on Youtube :()

For thousands of years from father to son
Ancient ways were carried on
Ingrained in the flesh an ancestral soul
Breathing life since days of old
The tales of the scop by fire were sung
Deeds of worth and battles won
A spiritual bond and oneness of mind
Born through struggle and shared strife

I saw fire in their eyes
And they knew they belonged like the wind blows
We knew it before and can feel it again
Rekindle our lost theodish belief

Through ages of time from mother to maid
Holy knowledge was maintained
Born in the blood a common dream
Shaped by fate and what has been

Striving to shield the esteem of one's kind
Those who'd deny left lamenting behind
Devotion that never subsides
Values that they'd give their lives to defend
Stubborn and true, fighting strong till the end
Loyalty that never dies

YouTube - The Statler Brothers - Til The Storm Passes By

The third verse is not sung in the version I have on you tube.

      • In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
        • Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
          Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

        • Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
          Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
        Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

        • Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
          Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

A Christian song that really inspires me is "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. Though I prefer the Rufus Wainwright cover. And yes, I realize Rufus is a gay man. I don't care.

Also, I like "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode but covered by Johnny Cash.
