As the Lebanese army pulls its forces from the border ...

As most things in this complicated world of reality and facts, there isn't a single, sole cause.

It is foolish to disregard the attitudes of the Iranian regime. It is also foolish and just as dangerous to disregard Israel's.

Which is why I wrote "almost".

We know that Iran is the main supplier of weapons to Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Houthis, some Syrian elements etc. We also well know that the Iranians, who largely Shi'i, will never accept a non-Muslem control in that region based on the Hadith teaching that once an area is under Islamic control it must remain as such. Imagine if you were in Israel's position with your small country being attacked on three of its four sides by hostile elements more than willing to kill your own civilians such as what we witnessed 10-7.

Religious wars are pretty much a thing of the past with the West, but that certainly ain't the case in the Middle East. And this is not new as please do remember the two Intidals aimed at killing Israeli civilians.

As evident by the Iran-Iraq War that raged for 8 years

The US was pissed off after the famous hostage taken by Iran during the revolution. I mean Saddam was highly rewarded with weapons, aid and more. Also something to recognize is that US wanted to the oil fields in the south of Iran to be in control of a ‘’friend’. So Shia and Sunni wasn’t the main cause, US gave Saddam a opportunity and Saddam was happily to jump on board.

Wrong as this "rivalry" has historical and religious roots, and the leadership of both reflected that. To whitewash the reality is nonsensical. It is very disingenuous to downplay their theological differences.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It is Iran that behind almost all the turmoil in the Middle East, so...
Definitely and I would support taking out Iran's nuclear capabilities before it's too late.

I'm with the crowd that Iran would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons on their enemies.

I never said there wasn’t any rivalry or tensions since i acknowledge the history between Sunni and Shia. But still the point is that Iraq was given a opportunity by the US to initiate a war against Iran. I am merely saying it’s a crucial detail which we we can’t deny

The US involvement was against Iraq, not Iran.

I mean don’t know what to say to that.

All experts of the Middle East history already made the conclusion that the US supported Saddam after the revolution in Iran and the hostage of Americans that resided in the us embassy and CIA headquarters in Iran

I mean if you google it. Almost on the too you get this.

US supported them financially, militarily and even tactically. This changed when Saddam was tired to be a puppet and turned on them. If I remembered correctly when Saddam invaded Kuwait.
