Ask Me About Art - I Know Everything (that matters)

I keep seeing folks asking to be asked about subjects that are important to them, and that they're presumably knowledgeable about. So I've decided it's my turn. Ask me about art. It's a subject I think is important and that I do know a lot about.

How do you rate street art?
Performance art?

That's what we all really need....self-nominated
experts telling us ignorant masses what isn't art.
Tis much like experts in religions....all telling us
what's true & what isn't.

I've visited Tate Modern in London several times. I think the building itself is a work of art, but the stuff inside is generally ****e. Is it just me?

Art is art. The medium and presentation are just aspects of the context within which it's being created and presented to us. Art can happen through music, dance, poetry, drama, fiction, sculpture, painting, drawing, and all kinds of combinations of these. Yet none of these methods and mediums are art by themselves. They are the tools and materials and contexts artists use to express themselves, to us.

It's mostly just you. The majority of your fellow humans would agree that the Tate contains a lot of very good works of modern art. Keep in mind that your liking or not liking them has nothing to do with their being good or bad works of art. (The same is true for me.) Art is not created to be "liked" or "disliked". So it's efficacy does not rest on that value assessment.

That surprised me, not an answer i would have expected.
