Hi
I am a psych. student researching benefits of religion/spirituality for mental health. Would it be ok to post an invite and link to a survey for any interested members to fill out?

What you'll want to do is post a thread in Site Feedback requesting permission. Then we'll get back to you about how that works (we make decisions by consensus). :D

What is the difference between the Paganism DIR and the Indigenous Religions DIR?

Pagan religions include neopagan revival religions and reinterpretations (like Wicca), whereas indigenous only includes religions as they were practiced by people originally. Usually with an unbroken chain. They could probably all be combined into one DIR, as there is much cross-posting between each and they aren't high traffic.

It's something I've wanted to see happen since I got here, honestly. But it hasn't been on my priority list, and it turns out re-arranging forum structure extensively is a bit of a pain behind the scenes.

Is there a list of the new changes to the forum? The few I've seen seem like a step backwards, we are seeing less information than we used to :(

You mean changes to the user interface? Those changes are done by the site owner, so we are left figuring it out on or own unless Brent posts up an announcement for us about it. He did make a post about the most recent change: http://www.religiousforums.com/threads/new-post-rating-system.191013/#post-4898761

If there's something you remember that you miss, I would message Brent W directly about it. The mechanics of the site isn't something the mod squad has control over.

I see in other people's posts that a link can be renamed for clarification.

Like this one: Two Kinds of Salvation

How do they do that?

Here's one way:

Type out in your post what you want the link to be called. e.g. Two Kinds of Salvation.
Highlight the words you just typed.
Copy the URL of the link.
Click on the link button.
Enter the URL of the link into the URL field.
Click on insert.

Just a technical issue to ask about ...anyone having trouble clicking on a thread without being logged in? I have to log in to be able to click on a thread and the contents, otherwise it takes me to an advertisement...like a pop up advertisement and it takes over the whole page. Just curious if anyone is having this issue?

I got that too. The popup page is mostly blank.

I wrote a post that included the term "bumper sticker".
Something turned that term into a link to some strange website selling something. I don't even know how to do a link like that.

I get the same thing. I wondered at first if it was due to a plugin or something in my browser, but it seems to be from RF itself. No idea when it was added or whether it is intentional in the first place; that's something the tech guy would know more about.

Tom

I tested that on my phone browser now, and the term "bumper sticker" wasn't hyperlinked for me.

This might be a browser plugin/extension issue on your end. I had it before, and I gave another member a solution that worked for him. Here's the post containing the steps:

Let me know if you need more help afterward.
