Ask the Staff Anything About RF

Sgt. Pepper

All you need is love.
I just spent almost a half an hour constructing a post and when I went to post it --- 'poof' --- all gone.

I'm really starting to hate this place.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I was in the midst of writing a post earlier this afternoon when I realized that something was wrong with the forum, so I saved what I wrote on my laptop's Wordpad. I not only saved my post, but I also saved myself the aggravation of losing everything I had just written.

For reasons like this, I recommend writing any post of a considerable length in a text editor instead of your web browser.

Good advice, thanks. I'll have to make a point of doing that from now on.

Since I use my phone, I have Samsung Notes to create posts on. It's been a great help in fb, also, that will randomly skip itself back to the top of the feed.

At this point, as long as it ****es the owner's off, I'm all for it.
They seem to have the attitude "**** off" for anything more than keeping the site up. It's driven us peasants nuts but you're in the position of being able to do good things but being blocked which is mega-sucky.

Hello and welcome to RF, new members!

This thread is for you to ask the mods anything about RF. This can include questions about the rules, the forum history, or the different forums in general.

A note for all members: Please keep in mind that only staff members may answer questions in this thread. Any answers by non-staff members will be deleted.

Thank you,

Debater Slayer, on behalf of the RF staff.
Simple question

Did RF change something in its soctware today?

The RF site behaves wicked

All the time I get a pop up about Cloudfare I think, asking to verify if I am human, then automatically continuing

IF RF didn't change anything in the software today then I must have a Big Bug in my Smartphone, and I'll do Factory Reset

My guess ... I have a bug ... bugger

Just verifying to be sure it's not RF software changes today

It's us, @stvdv. The human verification thing is happening to everybody.

A trick i do if that happens is press the back button then refresh the page. Most times, not all the lost text is restored or at least partially restored.
Works for me too.

Also, if I suspect that text will be lost,
I'll highlight & copy it. This saves it
in a buffer to restore what might
disappear.

What i find happens is that writing a post, leaving RF and going to another page for info then returning to the RF page to finish the post returns an oops when posted. If i remember i copy the text before leaving RF to paste after a refresh etc just in case...

It's also easy to hit some wrong key that
poofs the post. Sometimes I can't recover it.
Another good reason to keep'm short.

I posted this earlier in another sub-forum and have been discussing it with @JustGeorge but after discussion with her I thought I should post it here.

Australia is proposing a ban on social media for under 16 year olds and putting the responsibility of policing it on the tech companies with a $50 million fine for any company that doesn't take reasonable steps to verify the age of users. According to the news the UK and Denmark are considering similar laws.

I wonder if RF is considered social media?

At this stage, the details have not been finalised, and it is not clear exactly how social media will be defined and whether there will be exemptions to allow continued access to certain types of platforms or content. Proposed Social Media Ban for Under-16s in Australia

Well, if all of our Australian members suddenly disappear, we'll know why.
I wonder if RF is considered social media?

I believe we're classified as antisocial media.

Do you think social media sites should have an age restriction?
