Atheist and RF

Why would an Atheist join an religious forum if they know there will discussion about religious topics? I just hate how every topic is about debunking Atheism or religion is wrong. There are no discussions about the bible, or Jesus, or experiences, or churches / temples, etc.

If an Atheist wants to prove a religious person wrong, then make your own forum. Same goes for the religious person proving an Atheist wrong.

This is a religious EDUCATION forum.

Many atheists come here to learn about and discuss religion. Just because someone is an atheist doesn't mean he or she has nothing to say about religion.

Sure, some come on here just to try and downplay religion, but not all of them.

Now, if you want a discussion about the things you've listed, make a thread for them.

What a unique question!

..wait, no discussions on the Bible or Jesus or churches or chupacabras on RF? Seek and ye shall find. Truth is, you don't have to seek that hard.

This kind of post is up there with creationist posts or the "Hitler was an atheist" claims on forums- I just tend to ignore them, but I'm in a mood so....

*ahem*... have you tried these?

Religious Education Forum - Discuss, Compare and Debate Religions in Our Online Community
Comparative Religion - Religious Education Forum
Theological Concepts - Religious Education Forum

Word to the wise: if you don't like to see religion debated, stay out of forums entitled "Religious Debates".

To answer your question, if you scroll waaaaaaaay up to the top of the window, just to the right of the "Religious Forums" icon, you will see a little blurb explaining why any kind of people, atheists included, join this forum.

There have been countless threads asking the exact same question, and I'm sure we'll delve in the explanations again in this thread, but before we do I want to point out that this forum has sub categories that are limited to particular faiths or subjects that disallow debate.

Because discussion about religous topics interests me. (Although, even on these forums, it's hard to come by.)

I just hate how every topic is about debunking Atheism or religion is wrong. There are no discussions about the bible, or Jesus, or experiences, or churches / temples, etc.
I hate how every topic is worng, too. People really should choose right topics. :D

It's not about proving.

An atheist simply does not believe in god(s), not all religions have dieties. Buddism for example. Atheist does not denote religion, just gods.

The problem is that you see human beings as being Atheist (or any religion for that manner). This is a forum that human beings join (human beings of varying characteristics and tastes) to discuss the various religious interests that other human beings have. We all, so I believe, joined this forum because we have acquired religious ideologies and wish to discuss, debate, and discover our own and other religious ideologies.

"How easy it becomes for us to condemn our fellow man when we label him as anything other than human."~TheKnight.

Wow. Did you know that you are the first person to have ever asked that question?

There are plenty of places here for theists or religious folk to discuss their beliefs w/o "dissent", but "General Religious Debates" isn't one of them.

Why would a Christian come to an all faiths religious education forum? Why not just go to a Christian forum if you're only here to talk about the bible and Jesus?

Here is the most recent of numerous threads to cover this same question. Some of us get a little weary of answering the question over and over every time a new enthusiastic theist joins......

BTW, thanks, HumanistHeart - I'm usually the one that has to point out that all religion is not theism........

Protip: Be sure to fully explore all sub-forums of a discussion forum before complaining about what is, or isn't, there.

Why would an Atheist join an religious forum if they know there will discussion about religious topics?
Perhaps for similar reasons that a believer would join a religious forum which offers Satanism and LHP forums, Secular and Atheist forums, Paganism forums, etc.

BTW, there are many threads that deal with the Bible, Jesus, etc.
also for your convenience, if you are a Christian, there is a forum dedicated to Christian members, in which non Christian members of RF cannot argue in.

Why would you assume that we wouldn't like to participate in said discussions?

Atheism isn't my religion, just like Theism isn't yours.

I hope your question has been answered to your satisfaction.

GhK.
