There is a key distinction there. I was talking about what our current understanding of the universe says about the existence of any gods. That understanding doesn't include the existence of any gods but nor does it dismiss the idea (though it can contradict some specific religious beliefs or claims). That is about fact and knowledge.Yes, our current scientific understanding of how the Universe works doesn't preclude scientists believing in God.
That is entirely different to what individuals believe. The vast majority of scientists won't even work in fields that are in any way relevant to the existence of gods and so their job has no more to do with their personal beliefs as most other jobs would. That's about belief and faith.
I don't think he's disrespecting atheists (much), more that he is disrespecting science. As I said, by labelling basic scientific fact as "atheist cosmology" is about creating a false dichotomy between science and belief in gods or religion (or maybe a result of recognising actual contradictions between his personal beliefs and established scientific understanding). Here's where I disagree. I don't believe that was the intention. I didn't detect disrespect for atheists in the video. It was just matter of fact.
