Name a famous Theist that you like or admire. It can be someone who you think is a great moral character, or just someone who you like. An author whose books you enjoyed, and actor you like to watch, a singer or musician you like to listen to, a comedian who makes you laugh (or think). Living or historical, whatever comes to mind, just give us a name.

Edit – I realize this is a debate forum, but I would like to keep this positive and fun. If someone mentions a name you don’t like, say so only if you absolutely must, but please don’t harp on it.

George w bush , he may have missed a couple passage's from the art of war, but he does have a funny name and he was still able to run one of the greatest countrys for almost 8 years without it falling apart with hundreds of diffrent groups wanting him to do diffrent things

Daniel Dennett, author of Breaking the Spell
I think you mis-read the question. I was asking for Atheists to name a Theist, in other words someone who does believe in “God”. And although I am also a fan of Dennett and very much enjoyed Breaking the Spell, he does not qualify as a Theist.

Can you think of a Theist you like?

I really like Moby. He seems like a really decent guy, and his music and philosophy are quite beautiful. I don't know if he'd like me, though. (That kinda bums me out a little sometimes...)

So just anyone who believes in god? I mean, they don't have to be famous for what they say about religion, do they?

I like Dane Cook.
he believes in god, and I think he's funny most of the time. Lately a lot of his jokes have been about sex though. I think he's running out of things to say.

I could make a huge list of everyone I like, and most of them probably believe in god. I don't know for sure though, so I'll just stick with Dane Cook.

Were you being sarcastic? I think you were, but I really can't tell...

It is difficult because people aren't categorised by belief
No one said it was going to be easy.;)

Benjamin Franklin (deists count, right?).
Absolutely.

The don’t have to be famous for their religious position, just as long as you have a good reason to think the believe in “God”.

Should I count the Dalai Lama as a theist?
I don’t think so. But what the hey, the Lama is cool.

Einstein was borderline, could just as easily claim he was an atheist.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see his name of both lists.

Thanks to those who have responded so far. Here are my names, in no particular order.

Martin Luther King Jr.
Malcolm X
Dave Chappelle
C.S. Lewis
Sir Isaac Newton
Kenneth R. Miller
Jesus

I meant categorised in my head, not sure if it read like that, I have thought of more but am depressed by the fact the atheists are overtaking the theists by so much. :(
