'A man is in an induced coma in a Melbourne hospital after his head was stomped on by a police officer as he was arrested on Sunday afternoon, his lawyer says.

Key points:
  • Victoria Police has referred the arrest to its internal complaints body
  • Lawyer Jeremy King says his client was suffering from mental health issues before the arrest
  • He has called for an independent investigation into the arrest to ensure it is done "objectively"
Footage of the man's arrest was posted to social media, including a moment when one of the officers making the arrest appears to stomp on the head of the man as he lies on the ground, surrounded by other officers.'

They ran the police car into him first. I think this will be investigated very thoroughly...as it should.

These 'bully boys' live in every culture and country on Earth. And they tend to want to become policemen so they can intimidate, humiliate, beat on and even kill other people for fun and profit, and get away with it. Which is why we need our police forces to be very careful and vigilant in who they hire and how they are tasked with keeping order. The cost is severe when we neglect this responsibility. And even worse when we're foolish enough to support their abuse.

Blaming "profit" again?
Cops get the same pay whether they do a good job,
do a bad job, or just sit in their car eating donuts.

In some countries the police are just another gang of criminals, and taking other people's money is their main goal. Even in the town I live in here in the U.S. they have been known to steal from people: drugs, money, guns; it's not unheard of.

And for some, it's never going to be enough. Stealing is part of the 'bully-boy' mentality.

But profit doesn't drive the bullying described in the OP.
Nonetheless, I agree that cops & government do steal
from us, eg, civil forfeiture laws.

I have known people who were robbed by cops on the street and the station house. And bullying was a big part of it. It was a means of humiliating and dis-empowering their victims. It was also a about greed. They are not mutually exclusive. Both are fundamentally about increasing one's self (money, power, it's all the same) at the expense of others.

I don't doubt the existence of greed.
But one cannot chalk every human act up to that singular motive.
The cop who stomped that guy's head made no profit from it.

Money and power are very interchangeable. Both are ultimately about having control. When humans lust for money and/or power they are really just desperate for control. And it's that need for control over other people that creates these bully-boys. Most of them have been abused by bullies, themselves, and so have had their autonomous control taken from them. And now they're trying to get it back by taking it from others.
