Australian National Mosque Open day

All around Australia today, Muslims have opened up their Mosques for anyone to come and visit. Guided tours and talks aimed at showing what Islam is really about can only be good in addressing many of the misconceptions we as Australians have, because most of us know very little about this culture, and we are generally biased from media reports which are almost always negative. This is a great idea and has been well attended.

Australia is noted as one of the most livable countries in the world and we have a population made up of many different cultures. As an Australian I believe in free speech and the right to believe what you like, without any retribution.

Cheers

From my point of view, I have noted in this country as the standard of living increased the number of children per couple has diminished over time as less are likely to die and we have extensive health and pension schemes, I am sure this will also occur with our Muslim brothers as they become more Australian. My friend Abdullah from Saudi has 108 cousins, I have 4. It has been a bit intimidating to go to some good old Aussie suburbs and find in less than 10 years they have turned into a mini Casbah's but they do have great Felafels, souvilakis and other exotic foods.

I believe the high standard of education in this country has lead to a level of rationalism that has seen a fairly massive reduction of institutionalized religious participation esp Christian churches, with very little negative effect. So it is interesting to go and view these Islamic institutions, a bit like a living museum of the past.

Cheers

The problem is not in your faith only
But the problem in the faith of others
If you believe in the principles of goodness and peace
But the other gods in this
You are in big trouble
Islam, which speak in Australia is the Islam of the pious
And mosques
The tools are spreading hatred Quranic
Here are the most important words of Islam in mosques
Not wrath ayham not astray
Do you know what is the meaning of these words
They say Muslim every day on Australian mosques
And Iraqi
Wrath on them Jews
And misguided Christians
And also all of humanity
Are stray and wrath on them
This is what you say in msagdkm
The world knows Islam
For a clean world
Because the human world
The Muslim is digging in the Australian community
You will not feel the grooves, but subsequent generations will suffer
Muslims in Australia very much

I visited an Islamic prayer meeting once. I believe it didn't change my view of Islam any but then I most likely didn't have any misconceptions. I invited them to come to my church but they never did. I suspect it is similar to the old Catholic taboo about entering a Protestant church. Has anyone ever met a Muslim who visited a Christian church?

What a loss. :sad4:
Actually I think of islamic prayer meeting as a downgrade from Christian worship since I like singing Hymns. In a sense going to a Quaker meeting also felt like a downgrade although a concession was made by having a hymn sing before the actual meeting.

Good for you.

That would not be possible in Switzerland. Unless you can build mosques without minarets.

Ciao
