Well, I am going to sound so incredibly vain when I say this...
When I changed my avatar, I got some messages from various RF members, asking me to change it back to my real photo (which is a real photo of me taken within the past year or so). Being the vain, middle aged ***** that I am, I figured while I've still got it, I'd flaunt it, so I changed my signature image instead - to Flo, the Progressive girl (who does happen to be in her forties as well, so she's my hero!).
Of course, there is the disturbing mental image of people I don't know paying extra special attention to my avatar...but...never mind, I won't go there.
I don't want to change my avatar, but here's one of my favorite animals:

Yeah, it was really weird, and to be honest, very unexpected.
Not that I consider myself typically dumpy and middle aged, but I think I'm realistic about myself. I mean, I'm 48 and I have six grandkids. Though I exercize regularly and try to maintain a healthy body - realistically, I'm not the sexpot I was at, say, 32 (the age that I feel was my most attractive).
So - I'll take it wherever I can get it. If someone says, "Hey, change that avatar back - I liked looking at the real you!" -well, damn, I'm changing it back. One day I won't hear those words ever again.
Though I will say that today I waited on a couple who are in their eighties and they just got married last week. They were crazy in love and when I asked them how their honeymoon was, they both turned beet red and the new bride said, "Well... we are certainly enjoying each other!"
I thought that was the cutest thing ever...and it gave me great hope for the future!
And by the way, Desmond is way cool.
