Thanks to all who nominated me and voted for me - however this thing works. I really appreciate the opportunity to get to know so many people from so many different walks of life. I am challenged nearly every day during my interactions on this forum, and many of you have made me think about and ponder points of view that do not come naturally to me.

However, I will not accept the Above and Beyond Award. It can either be presented to someone else or shelved till the next go 'round.

I did not join this forum with the goal of winning any sort of awards. Though I try to be positive and contribute (mostly) meaningful insight into various topics on this forum, and though I do try to be more lift than drag, I haven't gone "above and beyond" - unless you consider word count. In that case, I might win - I do tend to pontificate - and type a lot and very fast.

But as for going out of my way to improve the lives of others, I believe that many of you improve my life much more than I improve the lives of others. In other words, I get more out of my time here than I give.

Therefore, staff, please take back this award and give it someone else around here who truly deserves it. It's too heavy for me to carry around.
