Putin and Trump are not exactly renowned worldwide for their wisdom, sagacity and values.

I think the chances of a world war is above average.

No, I am not. Seeing how things are going down here, I think we Europeans will commit a mass suicide before that happens

Do I believe it could happen? Yes.

Am I concerned or anxious about it? No. Not really. Perhaps I should be, but I'm not.

Exactly. If it comes there's probably not much you can do about it. I guess the question should be how do you plan on living after WW III ends?

Concerned, not anxious.

But, truthfully, I was far more concerned about the possibility in the mid 1980's. We came very close a few times that I know of. One because of a computer glitch.

The number of nukes then was far more than now. But I do have to say the wisdom of the leaders was better.

If we're talking nuclear war, and since I live in Virginia (a state bordering Washington DC), my answer would be, "I don't".

I, too, live in VA (southern VA about as far away from DC as possible and still be in state; It's what we here refer to as the "real Virginia", lol) but we would be affected by an attack on DC, Fort Bragg, Norfolk, or even Greensboro, NC which is a major intersection for a handful of interstate highways and a huge junction of oil and gas pipelines. So, yeah, why worry?

What I think about the possibility of an upcoming world war isn't appropriate, but it falls loosely into the category of "not concerned in the least." Funny how the things folks should be concerned about rarely are...

Hey! I'm rather "southern VA" myself. Campbell County. Nice to meet you, neighbor.

I voted no because I live a hop, skip and a jump from the Trident submarine base just south of us in Washington state. I might put deck chairs on the roof to watch the fireworks though. :) Heck, anyone who grew up in the 50's and 60's has been through a lot more delicate times.

I figure that I'm pretty safe living near Detroit....a target of no value to anyone.
But my real concern is another invasion, eg, Iran. We'd be unlikely to glow in
the dark, but this would ruin the economy.

No. Social, political and technological environments have all changed to the point that a traditional world war just isn’t viable any more. I’m sure we’ll continue to see the ongoing national and regional conflicts, many of which serve as proxy wars for other nations and fights for control over resources and influence but none of the actors involved has any vested interest in allowing those conflicts to escalate or more anywhere near their own borders. Not that this is necessarily any better, especially for the civilians caught in the firing lines.

Cool. I'll give you a hint as to where I am. We have a famous NASCAR short track here. I have to take my wife to UVA once a year (now) and we come right up 29.

I believe I know where you are talking about. In fact, I lived there for several years. Small world.
