I am still strugling with some of the basic concepts surrounding Christianity (not helped by the different beliefs of offshoots from "The one Holy Catholic Church").
I always thought that the Baptism was a "cleansing of sins" - which (to me) sounds strange, since Baptism is usually conducted on very young children - how can they be sinful? - unless, of course, it is a ceremony of acceptance of the second covenant, and therefore a cleansing of the original sin of Man. Put me right, someone, if I am wrong.........
I read somewhere that to want a second baptism (which, as far as I know can occur when taking up another faith) is an "insult" to the Holy Spirit. Please can someone explain that one to me?
