Bath or shower??

I can understand taking a shower when your in a rush, but is it true that people from the US never take baths? As in laying in hot water maybe listening to music, maybe in the dark with candles, bubbles, scented bath stuffs, ect?

I don’t take many myself because I’m normally in a rush so take showers. But is it true some of you US people never take any?
after all some great advances have been made in the bath. Eureka!

I generally take showers because they are quicker. I take baths as a nice treat when my husband is willing to chase the toddler about for an hour.

I love to take baths. They help me to relax with heat and aromatherapy items.

Now that our weather here in NY is getting hotter, I will be taking more cool baths to keep from overheating.

Many people here in the US take baths, especially when they are kids. It is easier for some parents to let their kids take a bath than to get everything else soaked when the kids don't close the curtain. ROLF
(yes, I have soaked my bathroom when giving my 6 year old a shower)

My brother always takes baths, never showers. I think it's very odd.

I only take a bath when I'm ill. A nice saltwater bath can ease the symptoms of a cold or flu. For purposes of hygiene, a shower seems more effective than stewing in whatever one is trying to wash off. ;)

I wonder where you might get information like this. I will take a shower if getting clean is my only concern, and to wash my hair (which is usually pretty long). But I prefer to take a bath to shave my legs, and I love to soak in a bubble bath with candles and music. Being a single mom, taking a bath is actually a luxury for me, and I don't get to do it very often without interuptions.

Men don't take baths, though we might be persuaded to share a hot-tub or Jacuzzi with a friend...

LOL! Well, at least this is one of the least damaging pieces of misinformation I've heard in awhile about Americans.

I love to take baths and do so three times a week or more. One of the great sensuous pleasures of life if you ask me. Showers are necessary sometimes but given the choice I'd rather soak for a half hour in a hot bubbly bath anytime. :)

I love the occasional bath. I get nice classical or celtic music on, burn incense, maybe candles, and enjoy a steaming hot bubble bath. It's a great way to relax. Also, when I don't feel like washing my hair, or it doesn't really need it or it is styled, I'll take a quick bath as to avoid getting my hair wet. Turk even enjoys a bath now and then. Even does the whole music thing and reads a book. I've run a bath for him after he's gotten home from work and he appreciates it.

I don't know where the information is from that says that the U.S. people don't take baths, but it's pretty ridiculous.

I only take baths when I am sick or my legs are hurting badly. Showers seem to be my norm. Maybe I'll take a bath tonight just for fun ;)

Shower (non pressurised); we are drastrically short of water in certain parts of England.

And yet, The rise of sea level (due to the meltingh of ice caps) is causing concern; it is estimated that London could be under water in the not too distant future.

Welcome to the Forum, Wartorious!

Well, the most recent bath I had was with a friend. And that was quite some time ago, but candles were indeed involved. I've been saving my next bath for the next friend who wishes her back scrubbed. Apart from when communing with friends, I take showers. I'm just not too fond of baths, although your description of them is certainly interesting, and it would be nice to bathe to music I suppose.

I don't really like to take baths since we use well water, and it uses a LOT of water to take a bath... plus our hot water heater isn't the best thing in the world, and we have to boil water on the stove to get enough to fill up the tub once the hot water runs out. ;)

I take showers to get clean; baths if I'm wanting to relax, pamper myself, or have some "me" time (or some time with someone else :flirt: ). Unfortunately, the flat I've lived in for almost 7 years has no bath, so I'm lucky to get one once or twice a year when visiting someone who has one.

I love reading in the bath - candles, relaxing music & essential oils are optional (if I don't have oils in the bath, then it's epsom salts or bubble bath, depending on my needs). I miss my baths so much! :sad4:

I never take baths. I don't like the idea of sitting in water mixed with my own sweat and dirt.

All you dirty people! You only take a bath and shower when you are dirty. So....
I'm not dirty so I don't need cleaning. ;)

Seriously. I have to shower 'cause I don't have a bath in my place.
But I shower every day.
I see some of the posters only bath two or three times a week.
Is this normal? Do you shower between baths?

The last time I had a bath was when I had chicken pox back when I just started elementary school, and the doctor gave my mom some sort of powder to put in the water to help the itching. Haven't had one since, unless you consider doing pushups in a suana taking a "sweat bath."
