Beer

If you want to cut down and can't seem to do it off your own bat, perhaps you could use a little outside help? Just a thought...
I feel ya.I can stop.I stopped once for 3 years. It's that I don't want too.Just like smoking the green stuff.I did that for many many years.I stopped with no problem.I am drug free:) I have always drank beer.I drink Shiner at times or Samuel Adams with a huge Rib eye steak.I used to smoke cigars with them too.Sometimes I will go old school and drink some Miller High Life.My favorite, but pricy,is Franziskaner beer from Germany. That is the best tasting beer I have ever had.It is so tasty.I drink all kinds of beers from all over the world.Another thing is I can only drink the beer if it is cold.I buy beer and leave it in the freezer for an 1hour and 20 minutes. It gets super cold and down she goes.I never drink in the morning.I have had a mimosa for brunch though on a weekend.I am down for all kinds of beers and wacky drinks.Nothing beats a cold beer though when you have a big piece of meat on the grill with some pecan wood smoking in the pit.Yeah! Last week I drank a whole 18 pack while smoking a pulled pork butt roast for 12 hours.Smoking meat....:)

Well, im having that Duck Rabbit now; it's quite good. Got a dark, malty flavor (I assume this is what "malty" refers to ). Has that 90% dark chocolate-type bitterness. Good, not too bitter. I can also taste the hops too. It's nice to taste hoppiness without the common, bright, citrus taste. It's hops on the dark side :D

My favorite is Dos Equis Amber, which is fairly dark but not at all bitter.

BS,
The colder the drink the less flavours can be tasted; so if you're trying beers from all around the world you're missing a lot of the smells and tastes if it's "supercold." i think it's a notion dreamed up by the multinationals to help peddle their beverages: less taste less people to not like.

YES! X1000

I also came to this conclusion recently when I had a Bud Light and realized all I could taste was tongue-biting cold and carbonation. It's only Americans who insist that the ideal temperature for a beer is in the 30s, and it's because of those big, mainstream beer companies. Their beer has no flavor, so, when it's really cold, you don't realize it and think you're having a nice, crisp, refreshing beer.

A nice, cool, but not cold, beer does the trick for me. As long as the room's not over 70F, room-temperature is good.

I agree with this, but also, people like it. There's a demand for it. I like any lager cold. On a hot summer day, after a bunch of work outside, I'll take an ice-cold Miller High life over some cellar temp belgian trippel.

Lately, we're moving more into that warm heavy beer territory. Pretty soon i'll want a beer that's like a warm bowl of barley soup.

Beer and bbq? you are only missing one thing- some good blues musick preferably live. Kansas City is known for it's blues and bbq, it's probably some of the best in the nation and I suspect when the Royals win the World Series there will be some serious parties going on:)

I like Sam Adams in general, especially Latitude 48, but their Oktoberfest seemed a bit disappointing for me...not sure what it is exactly.

Lat 48 is really good. Sam Adams is my "go-to" beer, i.e. something I buy and drink on a regular basis as a day-to-day beer.

Some things you might think of regarding oktoberfest. Not every brew is the same. Yeast, heat, hops, grains, etc can all vary a bit. Sam A is pretty consistent, so it might not be that in this case. It's more common in microbrew. Another thing I learned over the years is that I change my taste over time. Something I like today, I might not like as much next year. Also, depending on mood, weather, time of year, stress, and what I had for dinner, the enjoyment of a beer changes. Perhaps you just haven't figured out what food works with the Oktoberfest. :) Oh, and I forgot, the age of the bottle too and if it's been in heat or kept cold in transport.

Or maybe it's the dirty water

Or maybe something else? I bought a six pack of Tecate once, maybe it was skunky but damned if the taste didn't reminded me of the smell of one of those blue discs they put in the bottom of urinals, threw the rest away. Kind of reminds me of what some Vietnam Veterans thought of some Vietnamese beers = "monkey P*SS".. and no Becks is not the best bier in Germany, it tastes like a bad American one with about thirty aspirins crushed up in it.

Oh, Tecate is awful. And yeah, I tried some South Asian beers; they're also pretty mediocre.
