Belief Alone?

If you belief that Jesus is the "Son of God," does that belief alone secure one's entrance into the kingdom of heaven?
Romans 10: 9, 10 are the tenents of salvation: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved". "For it is with the mouth that you confess and with the heart that you believe".

We cannot work our way into heaven. In God The Father's eyes, Jesus is the righteous standard that imputes righteousness on our behalf if we believe and accept Him in our life. Ephesians 2:8,9 also states "For by grace you are saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God". 'Not of works, lest any man should boast".

We should not make salvation more than what it is, the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God wants us to grow in righteousness and through our works to carry out His purpose, we will be rewarded in heaven, but our salvation rest in Christ and nothing else.

it is not "belief" which saves us, but faith and grace.

see, just about anyone can believe or profess or claim some understanding of Christian principals and truths. yet faith is something more than an intellectual grasp or agreement with ideas, or the capacity to recite and understand a creed.

faith is something personal, living, God-given, and which is between the human self, and Jesus Christ. it's trsuting Him and knowing that He is who He claims to be. it's not simply agreeing with Him on certain ethical isues, but trusting Him with one's salvation, and following Him in the Holy Spirit everyday.

one is changed, and made different and new- more like Him. what saves us, friend, is faith and God's grace. what is expected of us is that we bear fruit befitting of repentance, and a new life in One who is holy, and sinless. in other words, disicpleship.

people who simply believe and then sit back and expect that "belief" to save them (but still basically live and act like monsters, and do nothing to glorify or point to Jesus in their lives), how are these people disicples? and how are they joint heirs with Messiah?

once Jesus lifts us out of the clay, He expects us to walk with Him.

Hi BHSU_Student, not according to my understanding, the present soul incarnate must be born again into the spiritual kingdom from whence it came before it incarnated. John 3:5-7, Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'

As mortal man, we are an incarnate soul due to the 'breath' of God which gives life and conscioussnes to the clay temple. (Genesis1:27). But this soul 'breath' of God is actually not ever separated from God and so long as the body is alive, the body remains a temple of the living God. (1 Corinthians 3:16.)

BTW, the ego 'I' of the body should not be confused with the soul, the personality has only a temporary existence and ceases to be when the incarnate spirit which creates it leaves the body at death.

  1. Admit you are a sinner. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23)
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)
"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10)
  2. Be willing to turn from sin (repent). Jesus said: "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:5)
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:" (Acts 17:30)
  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
  4. Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Saviour. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
If belief alone can save, then it would be easy to be saved. But Jesus said “IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?” 1 Peter 4:18. Even the righteous have difficulty of achieving it.

Belief is an indicator of those who are assured salvation--it is not the cause. Also, being a Christian is deeper than belief--it's about being spiritually transformed. Finally, I believe that it is possible for some who do not profess belief in Christianity to nevertheless be saved.

No you must also practice, live and breath this knowledge as well.
James 2:17 Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself
James 2:26 Indeed, as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead
John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

No. It does not.
Remember the demons
believe also that Jesus
is the Son of God.

The demons actually know he is, because Jesus was the first being created. He was the builder, (or as I like to call him) the "carpenter" (like the parallel) of the earth, the heavens and humans.

God created yes, but Jesus built it,
