PahBob,

Welcome to Beliefnet and to the Sexual Orientation Debate Boards!

It's always great to have new participants on our boards with new views.

Unfortunately, I had to delete your post because you referenced competing
website in your signature, which is against the Rules of Conduct.

I have copied your post below so you can repost it without the reference
to religiousforums.com.

Chaulk up a site that won't let us "advertise" - even when it's only an email address

I'm assuming it was a google ad!
Hehe. Some forums get really strict on posting of other forums. I'm a little more lienent b/c there is good information at all types of forums. People will always come back to the place they enjoy the most.

hmmm....beliefnet needs more maketing classes. In marketing beliefnet and religiousforums are not competing entitiens but complemenatary ones. A person who posts on a forum for sprituality is more likey to post on another one than say a non-tangent forum. The two are not mutually exclusive to a site that must make a killing like they do on advertsing but complimentary because it had fuels to the debate to bounce form forum to forum.

One of the biggest problems with beliefnet has been their lack of flow. I posted there a couple of times after being reffered here by a jewish woman living in Austin whose real name I do not know. I stopped because nobody else seems to post on there and i can be days before anyone bothers to reply to posts.

Their biggest strength I see is the advertsing and positioning they have done with other groups that they see as complementary. I think with the amount of adervtising that they do that they make a larger percentage of their money from that as opposed to from memebership donations. If my theory is correct than they should realize that they can't "lose" memebers to other websites because the ones post here will likely stil visit that one but, it wouldn't be as true if they didn't make a big chunk of money from advertsing.

It's a confusing line at best. I allow the use of "competing sites" in signatures or as an answer to a specific question. However, there are three that I have put in the censored list just to eliminate spam and since they are actively trying to hurt my site.

But sometimes I just want to put a stop to all the cyber poaching and especially to one cyber squatter in particular.

BTW, this site is MUCH more friendly than the other one.

Hi, I am the SoulTYPE02. I come from a really great message board called www.religiousforums.com. they have adopted me and I find them very understanding.

I am not Christian but do not hold any hostility for any religion.

I have made many good friends over there because they are such great people. Maybe I can make friends here..

But I must warn you I am a little different. Life is not serious; it is about having fun.

Thanks..

Though it is a tempting idea (in a sort of "faternity house prank" way) RF still stands for Respectable Forums. So play nice Soultype.

The pop up put me off immediatly along with a layout that vaguely reminded me of an ISPs homepage. Rex has nothing to fear from "competition" like this thats for sure. I like my forums plain and simple with everything set out in an easy to manage way. Maybe Ill check it out properly some time but one forum is quite enough for me... dont need another one. I can sorta see why beliefnet were worried about a religious forums link being posted on their board though :)

*gigglesnortgigglesnort* You gotta love a forum where the Administrator would post a link to a 'competing' forum.
That's what I thought too. :p

Really, I went there for a look yesterday, and it's not terribly user-friendly. I don't like the format at all...too many ads, only 4 posts per page...ugh! And the people didn't seem quite as friendly as here either. ;) You've got no worries about me 'defecting' lol.
