Best and worst.

Pick one or two movies..that you really like but are always having to defend...(but not here), and one or two movies that you just hate, and are always having to defend why you hate it..(but not here).

Like: 2001: A Space Odyssey and the Final, and longest cut of Oliver Stone's Alexander

Dislike: yes, I am gonna say it...The Notebook.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
OK - I liked (no, LOVED) Napoleon Dynamite.

I also really liked Natural Born Killers.

Whenever I tell a group of people this, I invariably get looks of horror and much murmuring and averted eyes.

Now - I also have always been very bored by Last of the Mohicans (I always fall asleep about the time they are all sweating in that dark cabin discussing something by firelight, who knows what - and wake up right as the girls are throwing themselves over the cliff).

When I tell people this, I sense immediately that they consider me a very shallow person who probably doesn't give a fig about history. Actually I am a history fanatic and I really love that particular era. I don't know - I just think the movie is BORING. Of course, how would I really know - I've never actually been able to stay awake through it.

One of the few movies I have ever just gotten up and walked out of in the theater was The Good Shepherd. Honestly - that was one of the most boring and tedious movies I've ever tried to watch. Finally I realized, "I don't even care what happens to anyone in this movie and I have better things to do with my time." Surprisingly, my husband agreed with gusto and we both just jumped up and walked out.

Someone actually said to us on the way out, "Don't you want to know what happens?" and we laughed and said together, "Well, no, not really."

Oh - two more movies that many people really love that I just can't STAND:

Moulin Rouge and There Will Be Blood.

GACK!

Best movie: Aliens (extended version)
Worst movie: Crash. It figgers that it was made by a guy named Haggis....which is the name of the worst food.

More Likes: The Doors and Barry Lyndon..a 3 hour movie with only about 20 pages of actual dialouge.
Dislikes: The Longest Yard with Adam Sadler

You too? The Notebook is one of those that I'm not fond of and others I know love it. It didn't get me emotionally, like it did other gals that I know and I like Ryan Gossling and Rachel McAdams quite well. The love story just wasn't my thing.

I'm not a fan of Quentin Tarantino because I don't care for him. I can't explain it. I just don't. I barely got through Kill Bill and refused to watch the other two movies. I couldn't watch Pulp Fiction. I thought it was stupid. I know I'm in the minority with this, but it just is what it is.

I LOVE Napoleon Dynamite. I find myself defending this movie, because a lot of my friends and boyfriend don't get why I think this movie is so funny. The movie just epitomizes the stupid sense of humor that my family posesses and Napoleon resembles my brother in law, Tim, during high school.

I really like the movie ELF and most movies that Will Farrell is in. I think he's hilarious and I know that not everyone appreciates his sense of humor, but he kills me and for whatever reason, I can watch this stupid movie year round and will laugh, along with Anchorman, Zoolander, Stepbrothers and many others that people find stupid. I thrive on this type of nonsense.

Dawny, I actually felt my life slipping by watchign this film....two hours I could never get back...which is rare for me for any other movie.

I didn't give a rat's *** about The Notebook either! It was so predictable and manipulative. Yuck.

Now - Pulp Fiction I adore. I thought the script was terrific. "Do you see a sign in my yard that says Dead N_____ Storage?"

Oh my gosh. And the line about the pig needing to be one charming MF. You know what - I don't even LIKE cussing in a movie, but these guys truly did take it to an art form.

I like a lot of cheesy horror movies: Wishmaster, Hellraiser, Final Destination etc and people often raise an eyebrow at them. I think a lot of horror movies are actually incredibly tongue in cheek and some people don't catch the humour.

I don't generally like action films (by which I mean the guns and car chases variety) which shocks a lot of my male friends. I just don't get macho BS to be honest.

Interesting..I just read in some trivia post somewhere...that that the full body count for all Rambo films is 438.

And that 3/4 of the women James Bond Sleeps with will try to kill him before the films ends..
