Best not to assume the worse…

an anarchist

Your local loco.
I woke up early morning and went to my car. There was a guy hunched over on my hood. I immediately got mad and assumed he was just drunk or out of place. I used a stern voice and told him to move several times. He just grunted. It took me a couple minutes of trying before I realized something was off and I called the police.

Paramedics took him away…

I learned something. Don’t immediately assume the worse. The man needed help and I was mean to him getting on his case about being on my car.

You may have saved his life.

This has happened to me too. I used to work in a rough area, it was an everyday sight to see drunks lying around in the street. One morning I passed an old man who was just lying there. He raised a hand and started to say something as I went past. Something made me go back and I helped him to his feet. It turned out that he was not a drunk but a very frail elderly local resident. He had been on his way to buy something and had fallen and was unable to get up. The poor old fellow had been there for about an hour when I found him.

Indeed. Scary how fragile and lucky life is. Chance often keeps us alive.
So, I was guarding an area near the front line during a war. The action had pretty much died down and we thought it was all over, so I asked if I could go home. Request was granted and I went home. The actual war ended a few days later.
About a month later, a friend who was also there and stayed until the end, told me that the day I left, my position got a direct hit by a rocket.

I would have been sizzled.
