Biased documentaries..

Yep, looking for biased documentaries here. I learned they can give you stuff to think about as long as you also watch it's counterpart.. There is always a counterpart :D

Some examples of what I mean:
-Expelled; no intelligence allowed.
-The God who wasn't there.
-What the bleep do we know.

All three of these are so wrong, I would like to see more of them..
Funny thing is that almost always someone liked it very much and somehow it is always in the direction of ones own bias
Like I really liked to watch the middle one knowing it was a one-directional road.. :D

If you see something that agree with your own opinions, then it must be 100% true and no counter argument may ever stand up to it. If you see something that is contrary to your opinions then it must be false and anyone who buys into it is a fool.;)

As to actual documentaries... I can really only think of the obvious: anything by Moore, Jesus Camp, Zeitgeist, and some others that are on the tip of my tongue.

I don't think this is true. For example, Bowling for Columbine came to many conclusions that I already agreed with, but I felt that the movie was rather biased and in some cases was flat-out unfair to its subjects.

I haven't seen Zeitgeist and I agree with you about Moore, but why Jesus Camp? The subjects all received advance copies of the film, and all but one (Ted Haggard) agreed that it was a fair depiction of them. I went to a Q & A session with the filmmakers*; they talked at length about the measures they took to tone down the sensationalistic aspect of what was being presented.

*As part of the Hot Docs film festival, which I heartily recommend you check out if you're anywhere near Toronto. It's got a ton of movies from all over the world on all sorts of subjects. You won't agree with all of them, but that's kinda the point.

The fact is every documentary is biased.
Some are just more bias than others.

Of course. Just by pointing a camera at something, you implicitly say that this thing is worth examining and everything else isn't, at least for the time being.

I personally don't have a problems with documentaries that make their bias clear, and no matter what, a documentary is going to be one filmmaker's take on the subject. My main problem is when documentaries deliberately mislead or make factual errors.
