Bible Group Read. . . ?

Who here on RF would be interested in doing a book-by-book reading and discussion (not a debate) of the Bible?

I'm not going to ask for anyone to read a particular version. I'm not going to argue grammatical semantics over translated text.

You'd be suprised at the difference a differently placed comma can make.

Luke 23:43

King James:
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

NIV :
Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

In the Jehovah Witness version the comma means that jesus says today, that at some point you will be with him in paradise.

In the others he says you will be with him in paradise today.

I think I would be interested. I might not be able to participate in the (hopefully constructive and positive) discussion as much as everyone else. But I do enjoy the Bible and I love hearing other's ideas added to what I get out of a chapter or book. I think it would be great.

Don't know if it's too late, but I would be interested. I can be a little busy at times, but I'll try to keep up if its not too late.

Also, concerning differences between translations, they can be huge.

For example, Isaiah 45:7:

KJV: "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things]."

NIV: "I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things."

In one translation, it appears that God actually creates evil, but in the other it appears only as if God presides over nature.

As it was a non-Christian's idea, and, I believe, some other non-Christians have shown interest, the DIR wouldn't be the place in my opinion...
