Biden looking into yanking Trump’s access to intelligence briefings

McBell

Past presidents are traditionally given intelligence briefings and access to classified information, but some Democratic critics of Trump have argued he should not be trusted with state secrets in the wake of the deadly US Capitol siege.

At Monday’s briefing, the same reporter pointed Psaki to “concerns among some Democrats” that Trump would either “misuse” the information “or leverage it to enrich himself.”

...

“There’s no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing, not now, not in the future,” House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told CBS’ “Face the Nation” last month.

“I don’t think he can be trusted with it now and in the future, he certainly can’t be trusted,” he went on.

It is incomprehensible that Trump is still getting intelligence briefings. The damage he could do to sources alone by divulging even hints and fragments of their contents could require weeks, months, maybe longer to assess. That much is public knowledge. The gods know what a briefing could be sold for.

This is the second or third bit of news since the inauguration that implies the senior Democratic leadership might be appallingly incompetent. Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and other key leaders are either basing some of their most significant and influential decisions on inside information so important and compelling it overshadows every publicly known fact -- which could indeed be the case -- or something is seriously wrong.

I have no idea which it is. But I can think of only one reason any responsible person would decide to continue sending Trump intelligence briefings. That's something I won't openly speculate about.

Strange times when my greatest hope for America some days is I'm too dumb to figure out what could possibly be going on. That's always given me hope. I just don't like it when it's all that gives me hope.

I think it would be a misuse of power to exclude Trump from the briefings, as much as I agree with the dangers. That measure should not be taken by Biden alone but decided by the appropriate channels. Maybe get that impeachment thing through? That would be good basis.

So Biden really has nothing to do with this. It's advisors and other staff members looking into it, just for clarification purposes per the title... And I only point it out because I like Biden, and he said he was willing to be the president for "all" Americans, not just the left, which I thought was refreshing. So to maintain that notion, I think it's important to revisit it as much as possible.

Worst case scenario, they could include Trump as traditionally done, and then just throw him in jail if he misuses the information... I'd prefer that method of handling things, personally.

Oh my, did I say that!

Well, if Trumpy is obliged to a certain Russian, I think we know where such information might be heading.

PS There's a rumour going around (now ) that he is having a hotline installed. :D

That sounds good, but you may not know what he has done for years.

Oh, we agree. I also prefer handling things - I just prefer handling things properly. That may even include going against the tradition on grounds of "imminent danger" and getting a confirmation by congress later - if there is protocol or precedent for that.

It just seems a little overzealous IMO.

From the article linked in the OP:

Ultimately, the decision will come down to Biden.

Hopefully it does not result in the deaths of innocents....

Seems to me this is the problem.
We do not know the legalities of revoking Trumps access.

If it is just a tradition, then I have absolutely no problem with Trump being left out.
And if Trump whines about it, ask him about his taxes.....

Ask him about his taxes...? That's heading dangerously into the realm of corruption.

It merely points out the fact that Trump cares not about tradition.
If his being allowed access is merely tradition, then I say dump his *** like yesterdays garbage.

Oh, I thought you were suggesting digging dirt on him if he opens his mouth about something unrelated... That would be different.
