Joe Biden's doctor says he suffered "hairline fractures" in foot after he slipped while playing with dog

President-elect Joe Biden slipped and twisted his ankle while playing with his dog, Major, on Saturday, and his doctor said a CT scan indicated that he has hairline fractures in the "mid-foot" area. Mr. Biden will "likely require a walking boot" for several weeks.

"Initial x-rays did not show any obvious fracture, but his clinical exam warranted more detailed imaging," said Mr. Biden's personal doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, in a statement. "Follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden's lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot. It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks."

Mr. Biden visited Delaware Orthopedic Specialists in Newark, Delaware, on Sunday afternoon, "out of an abundance of caution." Mr. Biden arrived around 4 p.m. ET and left around 6:45 p.m., giving a thumbs up to the press outside.

Major is one of two of Biden's dogs which will be living at the White House, along with their family cat.

Major is one of two of the Bidens' German Shepherds, and is set to become the first rescue dog to live in the White House. The Biden's adopted him from the Delaware Humane Society in 2018.

The president-elect and his wife are also planning on bringing a cat to accompany them in the White House after Inauguration Day in January, CBS Sunday Morning's Jane Pauley reported on Friday.

Let's hope this is not the harbinger of a Jimmy Carter-style, accident-prone presidency. Remember Carter getting attacked by a rabbit (!) while boating? :D
As I recall, there was a short video....
Ah....here it is.

I suspect if he wasn't President Elect he'd have thought it was just bruised and carried on.

Hey, ho - I trip over our dog about twice a week. They are dangerous animals

His age may play a roll in the incident. I'm sure a kid stumbling over their dog all the time will not affect them at all, whereas a man Biden's age, even in good shape..

That story about Carter was totally distorted by the media (imagine that),

"A rabbit was being chased by hounds and he jumped in the water and swam toward my boat. When he got almost there, I splashed some water with a paddle and the rabbit turned and went on and crawled out on the other side."

- President Carter

The time Jimmy Carter was attacked by a rabbit

I was 30 years old and fractured my pinky catching a *nerf* football stupidly. Sometimes fractures happen.

Yep. And they are a lot more common and prone to happen in older more fragile people. I remember reading a statistic that said one of the leading causes of death in older people are common accidents in the home. Falling in the bathroom, or down the stairs. But that is just common knowledge, and common sense.

True, but in this politicized climate people will attempt to leverage this as evidence of fragility when non-age related fractures happen all the time. Especially hairline fractures. The only reason this made it into the news, I'll bet.

Osteoporosis can affect anyone as my wife found out one night. And our skin gets thin as a discover anew every time I have a good wrestle with the dog.

Well, if he's going to be clunking around in a surgical boot at his inauguration, someone will have to explain why, surely? Better to tell everyone than have the daft conspiracy theories starting (gout due to alcoholism, kicking his wife etc.:D )
