The Marines were obviously symbols of national authority and obviously were there for the same reasons despots like to have their military behind their supreme chairmen during national addresses.

Maybe Biden ought to wear a military uniform for the full effect in the future as he calls civilians he dosent like politically a threat.

Biden's speech would seem to be giving no more than the facts in the situation.

If Maga, or any other group, were to fight against the elected Government,
it would be wholly justified for the forces of Justice and the military to be involved in restoring order.

Trump has demonstrated he is quite prepared to use False information and any means, legal or not, to overthrow declared election results. and to encourage his supporters to attack congress to overthrow the legitimate government.

Presidents often have military behind them in speeches. What most don't know is that the Marines provide security for the President as well as the Secret Service. This video of Biden's speech is being blown out of proportion by those opposed to Biden or just don't know/care how things actually work. What's the big deal here? Where's the "hate speech"?

I vaguely recall a speech or press conference made by Reagan at the White House. When he was done, he left through a rear door, at which point two Marine guards came out and stood in front of the door.

Presidential appearances sometimes tend to carry subtle reminders that we're dealing with the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, not to mention the entire Federal law enforcement and intelligence apparatus.

I guess he's flexing his muscles a bit, perhaps to show that he's not senile or doddering as many try to portray him. He still has some fire left. Just because there's snow on the roof doesn't mean that there isn't fire in the furnace (or however that saying goes).
