Which bible do you read?

I read the Ignatius Revised Standard Version Bible (Catholic).

If you're Protestant do you read the Apocrypha as well?

Yes...I attempt to read everything I can get my hands on; however, doesn't necessarily mean I believe all that I read...but, all writings help me build what individual faith that I do have....

You mean you read multiple bibles?

I read many different versions especially for study. I prefer the King James as my main version or any that use the Majority or Received Text. I don't use the Apocrypha, but I've read some of it at some point in time and read a little bit about it, but its vague in my memory at this time. I have always had the KJV for decades and I am used to it and enjoy it and understand it just fine. I can remember certain verses easier by reading it a lot.

I've read the New Testament more times than I can remember, and some epistles more than that. The Old Testament I have read several times as well and I try to read through the whole Bible at least once a year along with my other Bible studies. The Psalms and Proverbs I have read many times and I have studied intensely many single books and subjects. I also read a lot of books by Christian authors about a wide range of topics along with my daily devotionals. The more of the truth of God's Word I learn, the greater my faith and peace and joy grows, and I learn to obey and just trust God in every circumstance, as he loves me and gave me eternal life for free, and is coming again. I have to read it a lot, too, because I forget a lot. :)

Jesus promised that His words would not pass away (Mat 24:35). The question is…which Words? There’s our problem!

As far as I can find out, there are over 50 different versions of the Bible in English alone. No wonder there are many denominations each teaching different things, since there are so many different versions of the Bible. Each translation has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Your question, about my reading different Bibles…would be better stated by saying "versions". A better word than "version" is "translation". The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. If every man/woman could read Hebrew and Greek, then we would have no need for any other versions.

Amazing that God allowed this to happen…right? Maybe He just wanted us to do a whole lot of studying…not just “reading”.

But...back to your question...I usually use 8 different versions in my studies.

I'm just interested in what people are reading. Care to list the versions you use? I used to read the Tanakh (a jewish translation in english). It wasn't really that helpful because it was far different than a Christian bible. They (Jewish Scholars) interpret the scripture way different than Christian Scholars.

Mostly the different versions differ because they use different Greek texts as their basis. I think Satan has tried to twist scripture and he has had some success, although I believe God did preserve His Word for us in certain translations. Its a long story and many differing opinions, so I won't go into it. Even in corrupted versions they are still in agreement 95% of the time and one can still read the Gospel and trust Christ for the free gift of salvation.

Well, I trusted Christ when I was only 8 so, around 38 years. I think I got more serious when I was in Junior High and High School, questioned everything in my college years and twenties to some extent, then progressed steadily from there. The older I get, the more I stay in the Word. Obeying it is the hard part. :)

Is there a specific denomination that you belong to?

Not really. That's why I state, "I'm just a Christian". I attend at a place the 'world' labels the Church of Christ; however, I grew up in and with various denominations. That helped me in my faith so very much. I see people's views from both sides. I do not agree with everything the Church of Christ teaches nor do I agree with all things the denominations espouse. I have enough trouble just being a Christian without tacking on some denominations' doctrine. The Apostles did not belong to a denomination...they were just called Christians....

You must have some opinion of what Christianity should be? For instance do you believe one should be baptized?
